The Seer's Revelation: Battling the Infected Monster in the Heart of the Shopping District
The shopping arcade at Heightened View Terrace used to hum like a summer cicada — neon signs flickering above bubble tea counters, claw machines rattling with plastic prizes, and the scent of fried dough curling through the air. But time, cruel and quiet, had gnawed at it. Now, it was a skeleton of its former self. Shuttered storefronts lined the corridor like missing teeth in a comb. The fountain in the center — once a meeting spot for kids with sticky fingers and Pokémon cards — was dry, its tiles cracked like old skin.
It was here, in the last summer before middle school, that Milo, Juno, and Kenta made their final pact: one last adventure before everything changed.
They didn’t expect the arcade itself to change first.
It happened in the back corner, behind the shuttered “DreamByte” VR lounge. A flicker. A hum. A screen still glowing despite the power being long cut. Kenta touched it — of course he did — and the world folded like origami.

🌌 “Welcome to Cortex Drift”
They woke in a place that looked like a video game designed by someone who had only half-finished the tutorial. Floating platforms. Purple skies. A vending machine that dispensed memories instead of snacks. And a man — or something like a man — with a lab coat stitched from static and a brain pulsing like a jellyfish.
“Name’s Dre Neo Cortex,” he said, voice glitching like a corrupted save file. “You want to go home? You’ll need crystals. Six of them. Scattered across the Drift. Each one tied to a memory you’ve forgotten.”
“Why us?” Juno asked.
“Because you’re still dreaming,” Dre said. “And this place feeds on dreams that are about to die.”

🔮 “The Crystal Hunt”
Each crystal was hidden in a warped echo of their childhood:
- The Food Court of Echoes, where holograms of their younger selves ordered the same lunch over and over, trapped in a loop of comfort.
- The Forgotten Pet Store, where spectral animals waited for owners who never came back.
- The Rooftop Cinema, playing a film stitched from their own memories — but the ending kept changing.
- The Liminal Library, where books whispered secrets they weren’t ready to hear.
- The Carousel of Regret, spinning faster the more they tried to stop it.
- The Final Crystal, buried beneath the dry fountain in the real arcade — but only visible once they’d returned.

🕳️ “Back Through the Screen”
They found the last crystal on the seventh day, just as the Drift began to collapse. Dre Neo Cortex smiled, his form unraveling into pixels.
“You did it. You remembered what mattered.”
“What was the point?” Milo asked.
“To remind you,” Dre said, “that even broken places hold magic. Especially when you’re young enough to believe.”
They woke back in the arcade. The fountain was still dry. The shops still shuttered. But the screen behind DreamByte was dark now — truly dark.
They never spoke of the Drift again. But every summer, they ret
