The Tree of Beginnings

And then the queen understood what Sir Aaron had done.

The chamber was silent, save for the flickering of the sacred flame. Her eyes, once clouded by grief, now burned with clarity. Sir Aaron, the wise knight of the Silver Order, had vanished days before the siege began. Many called him a deserter. But the queen knew better now. He had gone to the one place where hope still bloomed—the Tree of Beginnings.

Nestled deep within the crystalline caverns of the ancient realm, the Tree pulsed with life older than time. It was said to be the dwelling place of Mew, the eternal guardian of balance. Only those pure of heart and burdened by destiny could approach it.

Sir Aaron stood before the Tree, his armor dulled by centuries of travel, his eyes reflecting stars from forgotten skies.

“My king,” he whispered, kneeling before the spectral figure that emerged from the roots—a being cloaked in flame and memory. “I have journeyed many years through space and time to serve you in this battle.”

The Third King of Fire, once a mortal, now a vessel of cosmic fury, gazed down at the knight. His voice rumbled like magma beneath the earth.

“You speak of service, old man. But what are these memories of old that haunt you?”

Visions surged through Sir Aaron’s mind—of a war long past, of comrades lost, of a promise made beneath twin moons. He had fought beside the king once, before fire consumed his soul and crowned him in wrath.

“I remember your fall,” Aaron said. “And I remember your vow to protect the realm. But now you burn it.”

The king’s flame flared. “You dare question me?”

“I do more than question,” Aaron said, rising. “I challenge.”

The cavern trembled. Mew stirred within the Tree, its eyes glowing with ancient sorrow. The battle was not of swords, but of wills—of memory versus rage, of legacy versus vengeance.

“I am going to teach you a lesson, old man,” the king growled.

But Aaron smiled. “And I am going to remind you who you were.”
