Darkness Unbound: Prince Phobos & The Shadow Dragon
The air in this town was thick with energy. Demon insects flocked to it like sharks to an open wound—a sign of things to come, or was the danger already here?
Then again, what did he care?
Hei stood overlooking the decimated kingdom of Domino, his cape catching the grim, ashen wind.
"Come closer so I can see you in the light," a weary, ancient voice called out from the shadows. "Tell me, why have you returned here? Your appearance has changed, but not your eyes. You're Hei... the Black Dragon Warrior, the terror of the skies, the Dark Masters' puppet."
"I am not that anymore," Hei replied coldly, his gaze fixed on the ruined spires.
"You have come to help Faragonda? Step closer. Valtor's magic is very powerful and cannot be undone through normal means."
"How can we help, Faragonda?" Hei asked, turning slightly as Bloom, leader of the Winx; Will Vandom, leader of WITCH; and Spyro the purple dragon stepped up beside him.
The mysterious voice echoed again, seemingly drifting from the cascading, dark waters of a nearby waterfall. "Eons ago, these two willow trees were the source of life for the region of Domino. Domino is now a wasteland. It wasn't before—the Great Realm Fire damaged this magic tree, which then became known as the Black Willow."
A spectral glow pulsed from the roots of the twisted, weeping branches, revealing an old, jagged fragment floating in the air.
"This is a piece of a great map hanging on Prince Phobos and Queen Elyon's older brother's wall," the voice continued. "But Lord Darkar stole a piece of the map—the part showing our world—and escaped. He gave it to a Passling, one who moves between worlds, and thus it came to me. In our world, the map is blank unless activated by the Heart of Kandrakar, currently held by Prince Phobos's sister, Will."
Will Vandom stepped forward, her hand glowing with the fierce, pulsing green light of the Heart of Kandrakar. She stared at the blank fragment, feeling the heavy weight of worlds colliding on her shoulders.
"If the map is blank, we make it write its own path," Will said, holding the Heart high.
Hei narrowed his eyes against the rising dark winds. The insects swarmed thicker now, a buzzing tempest of impending war. Whatever dark forces had chained him in the past, they wouldn't stop him here. The hunt had just begun.
