Summer of the Monsters: The Legend of the Magic Circle & The Sacred Codex
In this world, there is a boundary—an invisible magic circle that marks a strict line between the inside and the outside. On the inside, reality makes sense. On the outside, dimensions bleed together until you can’t tell where one universe ends and another begins.
It all began with a simple C-rank mission.
Our squad, led by Kakashi-sensei, had been given standard escort duty. We were supposed to see that Laila, the princess of Andros, got home safely. Summer was almost over, and the sun was shining bright in a clear blue sky. We made it all the way to the Village Hidden in the Waterfall without a hitch. Mission accomplished—or so we thought.
That was back on Earth. But looking around right now, I’m not sure that’s where I am anymore.
Okay, let me back up a little.
It actually started when the climate went completely out of control. The sky turned a strange violet shade, and suddenly it started snowing in the middle of July. Then it got freakier. You won't believe what happened to me and six other kids from entirely different realms: Bloom of the Winx Club, me—Tai of the Digidestined—Naruto Uzumaki, Laila, Prince Phobos, and his sister Will Vandom, leader of the Guardians.
One moment we were standing at the edge of the Waterfall Village; the next, the ground fractured beneath us like glass, dragging us across the invisible magic circle and dropping us straight into the gloomy abyss of the Shadow Haunt.
"Where... where are we?" Naruto groaned, pushing himself up off the cold stone floor and dusting off his orange jumpsuit. "This doesn't look like Takigakure at all!"
"It isn't," Will said, holding up the Heart of Kandrakar, which was glowing frantically in her palm. "The veil between worlds has ruptured. Something pulled us outside the safe zone."
Before Bloom or Phobos could even react, the shadows in the room coalesced into a towering silhouette clad in pitch-black armor. Red eyes burned behind his metallic visor, radiating pure malice.
"You will tell me the location of the Pixie Village!" Darkar cackled, his voice echoing like grinding iron against the cavern walls.
Laila stepped forward, her eyes narrowing as liquid Morphix magic swirled around her hands. "You are not authorized to access data!" she snapped back defiance in her voice.
"Very well..." Darkar’s dark laughter echoed deeper. "Excellent! I can already feel the strength of your powers! Your magic is mine! I'll go through you one by one until you tell me where your village is. That's where you've hidden the Codex, isn't it? Now speak—or suffer!"
"Hey! Shadow-guy!" Naruto yelled, instantly forming a hand seal as two shadow clones materialized beside him. "I don't know what a 'Codex' is, but you're not laying a finger on anyone!"
"Stand down, Naruto," Kakashi-sensei ordered calmly, stepping in front of the group as he pulled up his headband to reveal his glowing crimson Sharingan. "He isn't using standard chakra."
"He's after the Realm's balance," Bloom said, her hands igniting with the bright flame of the Dragon Fire. "Tai! Will! We have to combine our strength to hold the circle!"
I gripped my Digivice tightly as it flared with a brilliant golden light, reflecting off Phobos's cold, calculating smile and Will's crackling lightning magic. We were stranded in an unknown realm, trapped outside the world we knew—but if Darkar wanted a fight, he was about to get one from seven different worlds at once.
