Digimon Frontier: The Fallen Codex & The Abyssal Nether-Gate

The dim, obsidian halls of Shadowhaunt resonated with a low, jagged laughter.
In the heart of the lair, Lord Darkar stood perched on his towering stone throne, staring down at the three shimmering artifacts floating before him. Shadowy fire flickered across his dark armor as he reached out a gloved hand, feeling the ancient magic humming within the stone shards.
"The third part of the Codex is mine," Darkar cackled, his voice echoing off the cavern walls. "It won't be long now. The fourth will soon follow!" He clutched his fists, sending a surge of dark energy through the room. "Once the dragon fire and the complete Codex belong to me, reality itself will bow!"
Far across the realm, inside the towering, ivy-covered halls of Alfea College for Fairies, the atmosphere was thick with tension. Headmistress Faragonda stood by her window, her hands clasped behind her back as three figures crossed her office threshold.
"Ms. Faragonda, you wanted to see us?" Bloom asked, stepping forward with her arms crossed, her bright red hair framing a determined, worried face.
Faragonda turned, her expression unusually stern. "Yes, we need to talk. As you all know, Lord Darkar already has three pieces of the Codex," she said, her eyes shifting from Bloom, the leader of the Winx, to the young man in the leather jacket beside her, and then to the young trainer with a Pikachu perched on his shoulder. "If he gets another piece, he will be impossible to defeat. In light of the situation, I feel the need to take drastic action."
"What kind of action, Headmistress?" Koji Minamoto asked, tightening his grip on his D-Tector. The spirit of Light hummed beneath his palms, reacting to the growing darkness in the magic dimensions. "We can't just wait around for him to make his next move."
"And we won't," Ash Ketchum declared, adjusting his cap with a fierce grin. "Pikachu and I are ready for whatever he throws at us! Right, buddy?"
"Pika-chuu!" the yellow Pokémon agreed, sparks dancing from his red cheeks.
Faragonda nodded slowly. "I am sending the three of you on a clandestine recon mission. Darkar's shadow portals are breaching worlds beyond our own, searching for the final seal. You must locate the rift before his shadow monsters claim the last piece."
An hour later, high up on a jagged peak along the outskirts of the Magix wasteland, the wind whipped violently around them. Ash, Bloom, and Koji traversed the rocky ridge, searching for any sign of dark magic.
Suddenly, a voice like grinding iron echoed from the swirling mist above them.
"Who are you looking for, little boy?"
Koji halted, instantly dropping into a fighting stance as a towering, winged Shadow Phoenix brute materialized from the gloom, its glowing red eyes locked straight onto him.
"Maybe it's... maybe it's not," the dark creature sneered, dark magic surging from its claws. "But I know I'm looking for you, Koji Minamoto—the human who dares to call himself a legendary warrior of light!"
"You're about to find out what that light can do!" Koji shouted, pulling out his D-Tector as holy energy began to swirl around his arm.
Before Koji could execute his spirit evolution, a sharp gasp sounded from a lower ledge nearby.
"Where's that Pokémon Center...?" Dawn, the Pokémon coordinator, mumbled to herself as she emerged from around a boulder, staring at a digital map on her Pokétch. She froze mid-step as she looked up, taking in the scene—the giant winged monster, Koji's glowing device, and a swirling, pitch-black vortex tearing open behind the ridge.
Dawn swallowed hard, stepping back toward Ash and Bloom. "What... it's another dark gate! It sure looks creepy..."
"Dawn?! How did you get here?!" Ash yelled, stepping in front of her as Pikachu growled at the portal.
"Never mind that now!" Bloom snapped, her hands igniting with the bright orange fire of the Dragon Flame. "The gate is opening! Darkar's forces are trying to pull the final Codex piece through!"
Koji raised his D-Tector high into the air, the mark of Light blazing violently against the darkening sky. "Not on my watch!"
