Spellgun Requiem: The Songstress of the Forgotten Dream
The wind howled through the hollow peaks of Kurohana Village, carrying the scent of ash and memory. Beneath the moonlight, Riven stood at the edge of the cliff, his cloak fluttering like a torn banner.
“I’ve had enough,” he whispered, voice trembling with resolve. “I’m leaving the village. My goals… my dreams of the far future… I can see them now. Only because of what we’ve been through together.”
Behind him, the others watched in silence—Kael, the last flame priest; Mira, the rogue spellgunner; and Toki, the boy who spoke to shadows.
Riven turned, eyes glowing faintly with the remnants of planetary magic. “If we’re ever going to take down Xeanort, we need the creatures King Madara spoke of in his final letter. The ones lost in the Rift—born of sorrow, shaped by forgotten songs.”
Kael stepped forward, his staff now a relic. “Are you one of the wizards now?” he asked, half-smiling.
Riven nodded. “The old days when I was a priest are over. So I guess that title fits.”
He drew his spell gun—a sleek, rune-etched weapon forged from the last shards of planetary mana. “When the magic began to vanish, we captured what remained in cartridges. That’s how spell guns came to be. Each shot… a memory, a fragment of a dying world.”
Mira loaded her own gun, the cartridge glowing with a lullaby. “Then we find the Songstress. She holds the Mystic Key. The one that unlocks the dream not of this world.”
Toki’s shadow flickered. “But dreams are dangerous. Especially the ones that remember you.”
Riven looked up at the stars—fractured, flickering, like broken glass across the sky. “Then let’s make them remember us.”
And with that, the four vanished into the night, chasing a melody onl
y the lost could hear.
