“The Dream Hole”
The sky cracked open like shattered obsidian, spilling violet light across the ruins of the ancient city. Towers once proud now lay in twisted heaps, their shadows stretching long under the twin moons. The air shimmered with residual magic, thick with the scent of ozone and forgotten dreams.
From the highest spire, cloaked in a mantle of stardust, a figure stood watching the horizon. His voice was low, almost a whisper, but it carried like thunder.
“So… it was you who led them astray.”
A gust of wind swept through the broken arches, carrying with it the scent of scorched earth and something older—something not of this world.
A second figure emerged from the mist, her silver hair catching the moonlight like strands of liquid mercury. Her eyes glowed with a strange, ancient energy.
“Strange,” she said, her voice distant, as if echoing from another realm. “I feel… mysterious energy. You must be tired after your long journey. Why don’t you climb into one of the Dream Boxes? Rest. Soon, you will understand.”
The man’s eyes narrowed. “I didn’t come here to sleep.”
She smiled, a crescent of cold light. “No… you came to stop me. But it’s too late. This planet will eventually be consumed by my Black Dream Hole. Once it collects enough of Earth’s dream energy, the veil will shatter. The World of Magic will be mine.”
He stepped forward, drawing a blade that shimmered with runes from the Mystic Moon. “Gather every power in existence and rule over the World of Magic? What a truly simplistic ambition.”
Her smile faltered. “Your presence… it’s too strong for a ghost. Who are you?”
He raised the blade, its edge humming with celestial resonance. “It was a girl from the Mystic Moon… she showed me the truth. She showed me you.”
Her eyes widened. “So… brother. It is you.”
He nodded solemnly. “How did you find yet another one of the Mystic Swords?”
He didn’t answer. The sword pulsed in his hand, responding to his resolve.
She clenched her fists, the air around her warping with dark energy. “It looks like we’ll have to take it from them by force, then.”
From the shadows, her followers emerged—wraiths cloaked in dreamstuff, their eyes hollow, their forms flickering like candlelight in a storm.
He took a deep breath, grounding himself. “I won’t let you twist their dreams into nightmares. Not again.”
The wind howled. The stars blinked. And then, with a flash of silver and shadow, the battle for the fate of dreams began.
