The Voice in the Void

​The space between dimensions rippled like water disturbed by a stone. A voice, ancient and echoing, resonated not through the air, but directly into the minds of three specific individuals across different realities.

​"You, Yusuke Urameshi... You have a mission to accomplish, young man."

​Part I: The Spirit Detective

​Location: Sarayashiki Junior High Rooftop

​Yusuke Urameshi leaned back against the chain-link fence, flicking a pebble off the roof. He wore his green uniform with the sleeves rolled up, looking bored.

​"Who said that?" Yusuke snapped, his Spirit Gun finger twitching instinctively. He scanned the empty roof. "If you're a demon, come out and catch these hands. I’m not in the mood for hide-and-seek."

​"You are born under the influence of an unusual star," the Voice rumbled, ignoring Yusuke's attitude. "Your spirit power is different than others. It is volatile, half-human, half-demon, yet wholly unique. You have all that's required to be the Detective of the Spirit World, but a threat approaches that Koenma cannot stamp out with paperwork."

​Yusuke scowled. "Great. Another job. Look, old man, unless you're paying me, I'm busy doing absolutely nothing."

​"Silence, Detective. The walls between worlds are thinning. I am pulling you to the divergence point."

​Before Yusuke could protest, the concrete beneath him dissolved into blue light.

​Part II: The Aura Guardian

​Location: A Forest near the Millennium Comet

​Night had fallen over the campsite. A campfire crackled, casting long shadows against the trees. Pikachu was asleep, curled into a ball, but Ash Ketchum was wide awake, staring at the sky.

​"Can you sense my presence, human child?"

​Ash sat up, looking around wildly. "Pikachu? Did you hear that?"

​Pikachu’s ears twitched, but he stayed asleep.

​"It seems you have strongly inherited the powers of the spirit world—the Aura," the Voice continued, softer this time. "But you are still inexperienced. You possess a heart of gold, yet you aren't able to use it to see ahead into your own destiny."

​"I thought I heard a voice..." Ash whispered, standing up. Above him, the sky was streaked with a brilliant light.

​"According to the legend, that monster, Jirachi, only awakens once every millennia. The comet is passing, Ash Ketchum. But the wish-maker is in danger. To save it, you must leave this place."

​"Save Jirachi?" Ash tightened his hat, his expression hardening with resolve. "I don't know who you are, but if a Pokémon is in trouble, I'm going!"

​A golden ring of light surrounded Ash and Pikachu, pulling them upward into the stars.

​Part III: The New Shinobi

​Location: Hidden Leaf Village, The Great Stone Faces

​The wind whipped through Boruto Uzumaki’s blonde hair as he stood atop the Seventh Hokage’s stone head. He was looking out at the modernizing village, feeling restless.

​"Boruto Uzumaki."

​Boruto spun around, drawing a kunai. "Show yourself! I know you're there. Is this a test? Did my dad send you?"

​"We need you to find the secret book," the Voice intoned, sounding urgent. "The Book of the Pausing Flash. It contains the jutsu of time and space that was lost before the Sage of Six Paths. Forces of darkness seek to rewrite the timeline."

​Boruto lowered his weapon slightly, intrigued. "The Book of the Pausing Flash? Never heard of it. Sounds like an S-Rank mission." He grinned, a spark of rebellion in his eyes. "Finally, something real. Where is it?"

​"At the crossroads of destiny."

​A swirl of spiraling chakra opened behind Boruto, dragging him into the vortex.

​Part IV: The Convergence

​The three young men landed hard on a floor made of obsidian, floating in a nebulous purple void.

​Yusuke shook his head, standing up and dusting off his green uniform. "Alright, that’s it. Who’s the wise guy with the teleportation tricks?"

​Ash stumbled, catching Pikachu as the electric mouse woke up with a startled "Pika!" Ash looked at Yusuke. "Hey! Are you the one who brought us here? Where is Jirachi?"

​Boruto landed gracefully in a crouch, immediately assessing the other two. He saw no chakra flowing through Yusuke or Ash, yet he sensed immense pressure coming from both. "Who are you guys? You don't look like Shinobi."

​The Voice spoke one final time, echoing around them.

​"The Book of the Pausing Flash has been stolen by a spirit beast that feeds on wishes. It intends to use Jirachi's power to freeze all dimensions in eternal stasis. You three—the Detective, the Master, and the Shinobi—are the only ones whose distinct energies can unlock the seal to retrieve it."

​Yusuke cracked his knuckles, blue spirit energy flaring around his fist. He looked at Boruto, then at Ash and the small yellow creature on his shoulder.

​"A beast that feeds on wishes, huh?" Yusuke smirked. "Sounds like just another Tuesday for me. You two kids try not to get in my way."

​Boruto scoffed, forming a Rasengan in his hand, the blue sphere swirling violently. "Who are you calling a kid? I’ll show you what a Shinobi of the Leaf can do."

​Ash stepped between them, his eyes glowing faintly blue with Aura. "Stop! We're on the same team. If we don't work together, Jirachi—and all our worlds—are finished."

​Yusuke paused, looking at the determination in Ash's eyes. He laughed, relaxing his stance. "Alright, Pokémon boy. You got guts. Let's find this book."

​The three unlikely heroes turned toward the dark horizon, where a massive tower loomed in the distance, ready to face a destiny written in the stars
