The 6 Asgardian Gemstones, the Iron Monsters & The Final Easter Egg Hard Rock Type Beat
The Chronos Rift
The view outside the cockpit of the Blue Typhoon was not space, nor was it the familiar sky of Earth. It was a churning, violet abyss where stars looked like smeared paint and nebulae spiraled into the shapes of screaming faces.
Miles "Tails" Prower gripped the flight yoke, his twin tails twitching nervously behind him. Beside him, standing with the stillness of a statue, was a man in white robes, a rectangular katana tucked into his sash.
Tails looked at the sensors, then up at the samurai. The readings were off the charts—radiation from a dying timeline.
"You should go back to your own time, Jack, and get away from this horrible place," Tails said softly, his voice trembling slightly. "The X-Tornado is prepped in the bay. If you launch now, the dimensional wake might carry you home."
Samurai Jack narrowed his eyes at the swirling void. "There is no home to return to, young one. Not until the evil that plagues it is vanquished. If these machine-men are allies of Aku, I cannot flee."
Suddenly, a blue blur dashed onto the bridge. Sonic the Hedgehog leaned against the console, tapping his foot impatiently. The ship rocked violently as a shockwave hit them from behind.
"Hey Tails, why don't we try a different road?" Sonic asked, gesturing to the endless purple expanse. "We've been going this way since the Metarex came after us, yet they haven't fired a single shot."
Tails frowned, looking at the tactical display. Sonic was right. The massive, bio-mechanical fleet of the Metarex was right on their tail, their single glowing eyes piercing the dark. They had weapons capable of destroying planets, yet the Blue Typhoon remained untouched.
"This must be a trap," Jack said, his hand instinctively gripping the hilt of his sword. "A hunter does not chase prey it can kill instantly unless it wishes to drive them into a snare."
Tails began typing furiously on his console, cross-referencing the energy signatures of the enemy fleet. His eyes widened as the data came back.
"Any idea who they are?" Sonic asked, watching the rear monitor.
"I thought they were just the Metarex... but look at the drag coefficient," Tails stammered. "There isn't one. They aren't pushing through the dimension; they’re phasing through it."
Tails pulled up a holographic schematic. The enemy ships were flickering, existing in two places at once.
"They moved seamlessly through time and space," Tails whispered, horror dawning on him. "Which means they're not from our future."
"Not from the future?" Sonic stopped tapping his foot.
"No," Jack stepped forward, his expression hardening. "They are from the past. My past."
Suddenly, the void in front of the Blue Typhoon tore open. It wasn't a stargate or a wormhole. It was a silhouette. A massive, shifting shape of darkness with flaming eyebrows and a cruel, jagged grin tore through the fabric of the dimension.
The Metarex weren't chasing them to destroy them. They were herding them.
"Aku," Jack breathed.
The trap had sprung.
