The salt air felt out of place against the scent of pine and summer grass. Haru Glory leaned out the window of the Magic Tree House, squinting against the golden glare of the afternoon sun.
High above, a large white seagull—its wingspan impossibly wide—circled the wooden structure.
"What’s he doing here?" Haru muttered, his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of the Decaforce Sword. "The ocean is at least two hours away."
Yugi Muto looked up from a deck of cards he had been organizing. "Haru, look! He isn't just scavenging."
The bird dove, a flash of white feathers against the blue, and landed on the windowsill. It wasn't carrying a fish, but a weathered scroll tied with a silver thread. Haru untied it, and as the parchment unfurled, the air in the tree house grew heavy with a sudden, supernatural chill.
The Prophecy
The ink on the page shimmered like starlight, and the message read:
To Haru Glory and Yugi Muto—
Before night falls on this long summer day,
A shining sword must find its way
Into your hands and out of the gloom,
Or King Urameshi will meet his doom.
"Yusuke?" Haru gasped. "He’s in trouble?"
"It’s more than just trouble," a deep, resonant voice echoed through the small room.
Two ethereal figures shimmered into existence. On the left stood the towering, formidable silhouette of King Raizen, his demonic energy tempered by a strange calm. Beside him was the warm, noble spirit of Gale Glory.
The Choice
"You must listen carefully," Gale said, his eyes filled with a father’s pride and a warrior’s concern. "Yusuke and Haru, you have many choices laid before you now."
Raizen stepped forward, his voice like grinding stone. "You have had to make many difficult decisions on your journey, but this is the toughest. On this summer solstice, you must journey to a land lost in mist—to a time way back even before Camelot."
Yugi gripped his Millennium Puzzle. "Before Camelot? That’s the era of ancient magic... the foundation of everything."
"The sword you seek isn't just metal," Gale explained. "It is the bridge between the light and the gloom. If you fail to retrieve it before the sun sets, the darkness within the Urameshi bloodline will consume Yusuke forever."
Haru looked at the seagull, which was now glowing with the same silver light as the ghosts. He felt the weight of his destiny pressing down, but when he looked at Yugi, he saw a reflection of his own determination.
"How will we find our way back?" Haru asked.
Gale smiled softly as his form began to fade into the afternoon light. "I will always be with you in the memory of the stars. Trust the light, and trust each other."
With a sudden gust of wind, the tree house began to spin. The familiar woods of the present vanished, replaced by a thick, swirling mist that smelled of ancient earth and forgotten spells. The solstice had begun.
