Journey into Darkness: Black Angel, The Mighty River Styx & Walton's Mountain Post Hardcore Type Beat

The log cabin on the edge of the Whispering Woods didn’t look like a palace, but to us, it was the heart of the world. It smelled of cedar, dried herbs, and the constant, comforting scent of my grandmother’s tea. We lived there—siblings, parents, and grandparents—all packed under a roof that had sheltered our bloodline for generations.

My father, King Raizen, was a man of immense presence, though he preferred a flannel shirt to a golden robe. He had a saying that defined our borders: "In our kingdom, there was always room for one more."

It was a beautiful philosophy, but I remember the exact day it was put to the test.

The Decree of Xandu Ducblicon

The air changed when we reached the valley of Xandu Ducblicon. It was a place of impossible geometry—a stately treasure dome decreed by the ancestors, where the sun hit the marble just right to make the whole valley glow.

It was there that Prince Phobos gave his charge. He stood before the assembly, his eyes cold as the Sacred River Styx that churned nearby, flowing through caverns measureless to man toward a sunless sea. While the guards and towers swirled around us in a display of military might, my mentor, Genkai, stood silently by my side.

The Missing Piece

Yusuke and the other guards were focused on the Prince’s silver tongue and the sheer scale of the treasure dome, but I felt a chill that had nothing to do with the cavern air.

"There's something not right about him," I whispered to Genkai.

"You feel his power?" she asked, her eyes narrowed.

"No," I replied, and that was the problem. "It’s not what I sense, Genkai. It’s what I don't sense. It’s like who I’m looking at isn't the real thing."

In our world, power has a footprint. When we fought Toguro, it was like standing in front of a freight train; he was the ultimate fastball—pure, direct, crushing force. But Phobos? Phobos was different.

"If Toguro was about the fastball," I muttered, watching the Prince smile at the crowd, "this guy likes the curve."

The Test of the Cabin

That evening, Phobos sought "refuge" in our family cabin, invoking my father’s law of hospitality. Raizen didn't hesitate. He pulled out an extra chair and offered the Prince a bowl of stew.

As we sat in the cramped warmth of the cabin, the tension was thick. My siblings played on the floor, oblivious to the fact that a man who felt like a ghost was sitting at our table. Raizen looked at me, then at the Prince, his eyes flickering with the wisdom of a King who knew his philosophy was being used as a weapon against him.

"Room for one more," Raizen said softly, sliding the bread toward Phobos. "But in this house, Prince, we only serve those who show their true face."

The Prince’s smile didn't reach his eyes. The curveball had been thrown, and for the first time, the walls of our log cabin felt like they might not be strong enough to hold the secret he was hiding.
