Labyrinth of the Toxic Jungle: Rise of the Grand Magician & The Emperor’s Beast Glam Rock Type Beat
The wind didn't howl over the village of Oakhaven; it wheezed. Spores, thick and bioluminescent like glowing ash, settled over the thatched roofs and the stiffened remains of the last three hundred inhabitants.
A thousand years had passed since the Great Collapse—the era when the sky turned to lead and the machines ground to a halt. Now, the Toxic Jungle reigned, a fungal sprawl that claimed a new settlement every decade. Oakhaven was merely the latest statistic in humanity's slow-motion extinction.
The Deception of Narissa
Standing at the edge of the rotting perimeter, the witch Narissa watched the spores dance. Her skin shimmered, shifting from the weathered hide of a village elder to the porcelain grace of a high-born lady. Shape-shifting was more than a talent; it was her primary weapon.
"A clean sweep," she whispered.
She had been credited with the neutralization of Yugi Muto, the legendary guardian who had spent centuries using ancient games to hold the jungle’s expansion at bay. With Yugi out of commission, the spirit world's defenses were supposed to crumble. But credit is a fickle thing in a dying world.
The Confrontation
"You're taking bows for a play you didn't write, Narissa," a voice cut through the toxic haze.
Phobos stepped from the shadows of a giant mushroom cap, his eyes narrowed. Beside him stood Yusuke Urameshi, the Spirit Detective, his thumbs hooked casually in his pockets despite the lethal air.
"Yusuke told me the truth," Phobos continued, gesturing to the ruins. "You didn't take down the King of Games. You were just the distraction."
"Is that so?" Narissa’s form flickered, her voice dropping an octave.
"It was a joint venture," Yusuke added, spitting a blade of grass onto the poisoned earth. "Yomi and Cedric provided the magical dampening. Seto Kaiba provided the tech to bypass the ancient wards, and Hiei... well, Hiei handled the speed. You just showed up to move the body."
The Road to the Curtain
Phobos looked down the long, winding path of calcified stone that led away from the dead village toward the heart of the jungle.
"I thought you said this road led to the Great Wizard behind the curtain," Phobos snapped, turning back to Yusuke. "That we’d finally meet the one pulling the strings of this entire collapse. All I see is a graveyard and a shape-shifting liar."
Yusuke smirked, a sharp, knowing glint in his eyes. He looked toward the horizon, where the massive silhouette of a spire poked through the fungal canopy—Kaiba’s old fortress, now overgrown and humming with forbidden energy.
"I did say that," Yusuke replied. "But the best tricks work on many levels. We aren't walking toward the Wizard, Phobos. We’ve been standing in his parlor the whole time."
Narissa laughed, her form finally settling into a jagged, crystalline version of herself. "The village didn't die because of the spores, little detective. It died because they ran out of things to believe in. And the Wizard? He only appears when the audience is small enough to manage."
