The heavy, sulfurous air of the lower circles didn’t chill Screwtape; it merely bored him. He leaned over his writing desk, the scratching of his quill the only sound against the distant moans of the tormented.

"My dear Wormwood," he muttered, the ink flowing like bile. "I note what you say about guiding your patient’s reading. But aren't you being a trifle naive? You act as if argument is the way to keep him away from the Enemy. That might have been so a century ago, when humans still knew when a thing was proven and when it was not. But nowadays? With the weekly press and the constant noise, your patient has a hundred incompatible thoughts running through his soul at the same time."

He paused, a jagged smile twisting his thin lips. "The 'Gate of Judgment' is no longer a fortress to be besieged, Wormwood. It is a revolving door."

The Siege of Reality

In the realm above, the air didn't smell of sulfur—it smelled of ozone and damp earth. Yusuke Urameshi stood at the threshold of the Spirit World’s most sacred site, his jaw dropping.

"Someone stormed the Gate of Judgment?" he shouted, his voice cracking. "Are you kidding me? That place is supposed to be impenetrable!"

Kurama stepped forward from the shadows, his expression uncharacteristically grim. Beside him stood Will Vandom, her hand clutching the Heart of Kandrakar, which pulsed with a frantic, rhythmic violet light.

"It’s worse than a breach, Yusuke," Kurama said. "They’ve taken hostages. A hundred of them. Including Phobos and... strangely enough, James of Team Rocket."

"James?" Yusuke blinked, bewildered. "The guy with the talking cat? What the hell is he doing in the crossfire of a cosmic coup?"

"He was in the wrong dimension at the wrong time," Will explained, her eyes darting to the horizon where a strange, golden fleet hovered. "They call themselves the Divine Right. They’re a militia, Yusuke. They believe they’re on a mission given to them directly by God. They aren't just fighting for territory; they think they’re fighting for the soul of everything."

The Book of Whispers

A low, haunting sound filled the clearing—the Whispers. It wasn't one voice, but a thousand overlapping murmurs that seemed to bypass the ears and go straight into the marrow of their bones.

“All their plans are in this book,” the shadows hissed, a heavy, leather-bound tome appearing at Will's feet. The cover felt like cold skin. “If they are not stopped... if the Gate remains in their hands... the balance shatters.”

The Whispers grew louder, more pointed, directed solely at Yusuke.

“And you, Spirit Detective... if you fail, you will not find rest. You will spend eternity as a Black Rose in the Garden of Silence. No thought. No movement. Just a blooming monument to a lost cause.”

The War of Confusion

Back in the depths, Screwtape continued his letter, unaware of the chaos his "patients" were enduring, yet perfectly describing the engine of their destruction.

"The beauty of the Divine Right," Screwtape wrote, "is that they don't need to be right. They only need to be certain. When you have a hundred hostages and a thousand 'God-given' excuses, the human mind stops seeking the truth and starts seeking a side. Keep them confused, Wormwood. Keep the boy wondering why a common thief like James is held alongside a tyrant like Phobos. As long as they are bewildered, they are ours."

Yusuke looked at the book, then at his friends. The "Divine Right" was screaming hymns from the battlements, James was wailing for his teammates, and the world was beginning to blur at the edges.

"Alright," Yusuke growled, his finger beginning to glow with the familiar blue light of the Spirit Gun. "I don't care if they think they've got a permit from the Big Guy. Nobody turns me into a flower."
