Chronicles of the Fallen Heavens: The Three Kings and the Escaflowne Covenant
The campfire crackled in the pocket dimension between worlds—a strange, shimmering "in-between" where the ley lines of Earth, Deltora, Fiore, and Gaia converged.
Around the flames sat a collection of heroes who had no business meeting, yet looked strangely comfortable in each other’s company.
The Unusual Gathering
Natsu Dragneel was the first to break the silence, or rather, the first to break the peace. He was currently trying to eat a handful of glowing embers. "Man, this flame tastes... sparkly? Not bad, but it needs more kick!"
Yusuke Urameshi leaned back against a mossy rock, his green spirit detective jacket draped over his shoulders. He let out a snort, flicking a piece of lint off his sleeve. "Kid, if you start breathing fire on my shoes, we’re gonna have a problem. I’ve dealt with demons less weird than you."
Leif of Deltora sat cross-legged, his hand instinctively resting on the hilt of the Belt of Deltora. The seven gems—Topaz, Ruby, Opal, Lapis Lazuli, Emerald, Amethyst, and Diamond—pulsed with a soft, rhythmic light. "We aren't here for a fight," Leif said, his voice grounded and kingly. "The Shadow Lord's influence is reaching beyond my borders. If the darkness spreading through these realms is connected, we need a plan."
The Clash of Steel and Spirit
Across from him, Haru Glory adjusted the massive Decaphorce Sword strapped to his back. The Ten Powers hummed in response to the Belt’s magic. "Leif’s right. Plue’s been acting nervous all day," Haru said, patting the shivering, cone-nosed creature beside him. "The Dark Bring energy I’m sensing isn't just from my world. It’s heavier. More... ancient."
"It’s the Zone of Low Magic," a voice drifted from above. Van Fanel dropped down from the branch of a massive, otherworldly tree. His red cape billowed behind him, and his eyes were sharp, scanning the horizon for the shimmering silhouette of an Escaflowne that wasn't there. "In Gaia, we call it the pull of fate. But this feels like a vacuum. It’s sucking the life out of the land."
"Vacuum, huh?" Yusuke stood up, cracking his neck. He raised his right hand, pointing his index finger into the darkness of the woods. "I don't care if it's the Shadow Lord or some big-shot demon. If it's in the way, I’ll blast it."
The Shadow Emerges
As if on cue, the woods erupted. Not with monsters, but with nothingness. Shadows that looked like liquid ink bled from the trees, coalescing into a towering, faceless knight clad in armor that mirrored the void.
Natsu didn't wait. "I'M FIRED UP!" He lunged forward, fists engulfed in golden-crimson heat. "Fire Dragon’s Wing Attack!"
Haru unsheathed his blade, the iron shifting into its second form: Melforce. A blast of pressurized air cleared the smoke Natsu left behind. "I’ll take the left flank!"
Van drew his longsword with practiced grace, his movements a dance of royal precision. He moved like a bird of prey, striking at the joints of the shadow-armor.
The knight swung a massive claymore, the force of it shattering the ground. Leif stood his ground, the Topaz on his belt glowing bright gold.
"The Topaz clarifies the mind and strengthens the will!" Leif shouted. A barrier of golden light erupted, catching the shadow-blade mid-swing. "Yusuke! Now!"
Yusuke grinned, a blue spark dancing at the tip of his finger. The energy intensified until it was a blinding sphere of spiritual power.
"SPIRIT GUN!"
The blast tore through the air, merging with Natsu’s flames and Haru’s wind. The combined force slammed into the shadow knight, turning the void into a spectacular display of white light.
Aftermath
The silence that followed was heavy. The shadow was gone, but the air still felt thin.
"Nice shot, tough guy," Natsu grinned, slapping Yusuke on the back so hard the detective stumbled.
"Watch it, firecracker," Yusuke grumbled, though he couldn't hide a smirk. "Not a bad team-up. For a bunch of guys in capes and jewelry."
Van looked toward the sky, where the stars were beginning to reappear. "This was just a scout. The real battle is ahead."
Leif nodded, looking at each of them. A King, a Rave Master, a Dragon Slayer, a King of Atlantis, and a Spirit Detective. "Then it’s a good thing we found each other. Let the Shadow Lord try his worst. He’s never faced a fire like this."
Natsu punched his palms together. "You said it! Next time, I'm buying the snacks!"
