Millennium Puzzle: The Legend of Professor Gil and the Golden Fawn

The fire crackled in the center of the inter-dimensional nexus—a quiet clearing that existed between the folds of their respective worlds. It was an unlikely assembly: a prince of Narnia, a duelist from Japan, a blacksmith’s son from Deltora, and a mechanical warrior from a future that hadn't happened yet.
The Gathering
Peter Pevensie sat tall, his hand resting habitually on the hilt of Rhindon. He looked at the others with the weary, noble eyes of a High King who had seen too many winters. Across from him, Yugi Muto shuffled his deck, the soft snap-snap of the cards providing a rhythmic comfort.
Leaf was busy checking the clasp of the Belt of Deltora. The seven gems—Topaz, Ruby, Opal, Lapis Lazuli, Emerald, Amethyst, and Diamond—pulsed with a faint, rhythmic light, sensing the strange magic of this place.
"It feels... different here," Leaf whispered. "Like the Shadow Lord's reach is long, but it can't quite touch the borders of this forest."
"It's a sanctuary," a metallic voice vibrated. Jiro, known to the world as Kikaider, stood leaning against a gnarled oak. His body was a split canvas of blue and red, the internal circuitry visible through the transparent side of his head. He looked human, yet his eyes held a digital sorrow. "My sensors detect no hostile intent within five kilometers. But my Conscience Circuit... it is restless."
The Shared Burden
"We all carry something, don't we?" Yugi said, looking up from his cards. He felt the weight of the Millennium Puzzle against his chest. "A piece of fate we didn't exactly ask for."
"I was a schoolboy in London one moment, and a King the next," Peter said, a wry smile touching his lips. "I fought a White Witch and led armies before I was old enough to shave. The burden isn't the crown, Jiro. It's the knowledge that people are looking at you to find the light when it's pitch black."
Leaf nodded, his fingers tracing the Ruby. "I spent my life thinking I was just a boy from Del. Then I found out the fate of an entire kingdom was strapped to my waist. There are days I wish the gems were just pretty stones."
Jiro pushed off the tree, his mechanical joints whirring softly. "I was built to be a tool of destruction. My creator gave me a Conscience Circuit so I could choose to be good. But choosing is a heavy thing. To feel the 'wrongness' of the world and be unable to compute a simple solution... it is a glitch that feels like a heartbeat."
The Spark of Conflict
The peace was shattered by a shimmering distortion in the air. A swarm of Grey Guards from Deltora, backed by a shadowy remnant of the White Witch’s secret police and a legion of Dark Duel Monsters, spilled into the clearing.
"It seems our shadows have found us," Peter said, drawing Rhindon. The blade caught the firelight, gleaming like a star.
Peter took the vanguard. He moved with the grace of a lion, his shield parrying the heavy blows of the Grey Guards. He wasn't just fighting; he was commanding the space, his voice booming instructions that seemed to bolster the spirits of the others.
Leaf drew his sword, the Belt of Deltora glowing blindingly bright. The Topaz flared, projecting a wave of courage that shattered the fear-magic of the Shadow Lord's minions. He danced through the fray, his agility born of years on the run.
Yugi didn't need a sword. "I call upon the Dark Magician!" he shouted. A tall, purple-clad sorcerer materialized from a burst of magical energy, leveling his staff and blasting the shadowy creatures into pixels.
Jiro crossed his arms. "Switch ON!" he cried. The air hummed with electricity as he transformed into his combat mode. He moved like a blur of primary colors, his "Denjin End" technique crackling from his fingertips, short-circuiting the monstrous constructs with surgical precision.
The Quiet After
As the last of the shadows dissolved into the mist, the four heroes stood back-to-back. The clearing returned to its eerie silence.
"We make a decent team," Leaf panted, sheathing his blade.
"Different worlds, same fight," Yugi said, the spirit of the Pharaoh receding back into the Puzzle. "The monsters change, but the reason we stand against them doesn't."
Peter looked at Jiro, who was staring at his hands, watching the sparks fade. "You have a soul, Jiro," the King said firmly. "A machine doesn't wonder if it's doing the right thing. Only a man does."
Jiro looked up, his robotic eyes softening. "Thank you, Peter Pevensie."
As the nexus began to fade, pulling them back to Narnia, Deltora, Domino City, and a future Japan, they shared a final nod. They were kings, heroes, and constructs, but for one brief night, they were simply brothers-in-arms, proving that no matter the universe, light always finds a way to congregate.
