Lord of the Under-Realm: Chronicles of the Forgotten Sector Album Into

The neon lights of the Infinite Fortress didn't just flicker—they bled. The digital sky of the virtual city turned a bruised purple as a shadow deeper than any data-void began to swallow the horizon.

Makubex stood at the edge of the central spire, his lab coat whipping in a wind that shouldn't exist. "This isn't a glitch," he said, his voice cold and analytical. "The Fortress's core is being overwritten by a foreign consciousness. It’s not code... it’s malice."

Beside him, Ban Mido cracked his knuckles and Ginji Amano’s hair began to spark. "Whatever it is," Ban spat, "it’s got a nasty smell. Like old graves and rot."

The Shadow Descends

From the darkness emerged the Shadow Lord. He didn't walk; he manifested, a towering silhouette of jagged armor and flowing, ink-like darkness. Behind him, a horde of Grey Guards and Akabane-like shadow-wraiths swarmed the walkways.

"A world of false light and hollow dreams," the Shadow Lord boomed, his voice echoing through the speakers of the city. "I shall reclaim this realm for the darkness of Del."

"Not on our watch!" Haru Glory leaped from a higher platform, the Ten Powers sword glowing with the holy light of the Rave Stone. He swung the blade, its light carving a path through the shadows. "This world has people living in it, even if it's made of metal!"

Lief of Deltora landed beside him, the Belt of Deltora burning white-hot against his waist. The Diamond sparked, its purity acting as a beacon. "The Shadow Lord! He’s broken through the barriers of my world!"

The Ultimate Collaboration

The Shadow Lord raised a hand, and the very floor of the Fortress rose up like a tidal wave of obsidian. "You are insects in a web of my making."

"My web," Makubex corrected.

He slammed his hand onto a portable terminal. "I've re-routed the Fortress's defensive grid. Ginji, now!"

The Power Grid: Makubex bypassed the safety limiters. Ginji became a human lightning bolt, channeling the entire power of the Lower Town into a massive discharge. The electricity didn't just shock; guided by Makubex’s calculations, it formed a magnetic cage around the Shadow Lord.

The Illusion: Ban Mido stepped forward, his eyes locking with the void where the Shadow Lord’s face should be. "You saw a world of darkness? Look again. Jagan!" For one minute, the Shadow Lord saw his own empire crumbling into dust, distracting his god-like focus.

The Finishing Blow: With the enemy momentarily paralyzed, Haru and Lief charged.

"Form Six: Solas!" Haru cried, his sword turning into a blade of pure solar energy.

"For Deltora!" Lief shouted, the Belt's gems unifying into a blinding beam of ancestral magic.

The combined light hit the Shadow Lord’s chest. The darkness shrieked—a sound of tearing metal and fading nightmares—before imploding into a single, harmless spark.

The Quiet After

The purple sky dissolved, replaced by the familiar artificial blue of Makubex’s sky-dome.

Christopher Robin emerged from behind a heavy blast door, holding Pooh’s paw. "Is the scary shadow gone now? Pooh thought it was a very large Heffalump."

Makubex looked at the reading on his screen. The corruption was 0.0%. He looked at Haru and Lief, then at the GetBackers. He was usually the one playing god, but today, he’d played the teammate.

"The integrity of this sector is restored," Makubex said, his tone regaining its usual stoicism. "I’ve stabilized the dimensional anchors. You two," he nodded to Haru and Lief, "should return home before your absence causes a paradox I can't fix."

"Thanks for the assist, kid," Ban said, tossing a cigarette. "You're not bad for a brat with a computer."

Lief sheathed his sword, looking at the high-tech skyline one last time. "Different worlds, same fight. Thank you, Makubex."

As the heroes stepped into the departing light, the ruler of the Fortress sat back in his chair. He looked at the small honey pot Christopher Robin had "accidentally" left on his console.

"Ginji," Makubex muttered. "Don't touch the honey. It's... a souvenir."
