Shadow Stones: The Cross to Bear in Rainbow Valley
The desert of Moryon was not a place where the laws of physics or time played fair. It was a crossroads of realities, a shimmering heat-haze where the sand tasted of copper and ancient magic.
The Convergence
Haru Glory wiped the sweat from his brow, his hand tightening around the hilt of the Ten Powers. Beside him, Siegheart, the Elemental Master, stood like a statue, his blue robes fluttering in a wind that shouldn't have existed.
"The space-time distortion is peaking, Haru," Siegheart murmured, his eyes scanning the horizon. "Something—or several somethings—have been pulled into this fold."
A few yards away, a young man in leather armor adjusted a belt set with seven glowing gems. Leif of Deltora looked wary, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. He didn't recognize these men, but the power radiating from the blue-haired mage felt as potent as the magic of the Belt itself.
"I seek the way back to Del," Leif said, his voice steady despite the alien landscape. "If you are agents of the Shadow Lord, speak now."
The Threat Emerges
Before Haru could answer, a crimson blur streaked across the dunes. Sia, the pure-blooded Chiropteran, skidded to a halt between the groups. Her eyes glowed with a predatory hunger, and her twin blades reflected the dying sun. She wasn't here by choice, and her blood-thirst was reaching a breaking point.
"More puppets?" Sia hissed, her body tensing to spring.
"Conflict is illogical," a mechanical voice vibrated through the air. From behind a ruined pillar stepped a figure of blue and red. Jiro, the android known as Kikaider, stood with his arms crossed. His internal circuits hummed, the Conscience Circuit struggling to process the chaotic emotions swirling in the desert air. "We are all displaced. Violence will not provide a solution."
The Battle of Wills
The tension snapped when a swarm of Shadow Creatures, drawn to the combined power of the group, erupted from the sand.
Haru reacted first, shifting the Ten Powers into its explosion form, Wayfarer, to clear a path.
Leif drew the Belt of Deltora, the Topaz glowing to provide strength and the Ruby burning bright to ward off the evil spirits.
Sia became a whirlwind of steel, her movements so fast they blurred, carving through the monsters with lethal efficiency.
Siegheart, however, noticed the true problem. The rift was collapsing. "We don't have time for a skirmish! If we don't harmonize our energies, this pocket dimension will become our tomb!"
"Kikaider!" Siegheart shouted. "Use your internal power source to stabilize the frequency. Leif, the gems in your belt—they hold the harmony of your world. Focus them!"
The Great Escape
It was an unlikely sight:
Kikaider opened his chest plate, exposing his core to channel a steadying pulse of energy.
Siegheart wove a massive magic circle in the sand, using his Cosmic-level manipulation to bind the disparate powers together.
Haru held the Ten Powers high, using the Rave Stone as a beacon.
Leif stood at the center, the Belt of Deltora pulsing in a rhythmic heartbeat that gave the magic a physical anchor.
Sia, realizing the gravity of the situation, sheathed her blades and stood guard, her heightened senses tracking the collapsing edges of reality.
The desert began to dissolve into white light.
"Go!" Siegheart commanded, his voice straining under the pressure of holding back the void. "Return to your battles. Your worlds still need you!"
The Aftermath
In a flash of prismatic light, the desert was gone.
Haru and Siegheart found themselves back on the shores of Song Island. Leif stood in the forests of Deltora, the Belt humming a quiet song of victory. Kikaider woke in a laboratory, his circuits cooling. And Sia? She vanished into the shadows of a city, the memory of the light still burning in her cold, immortal eyes.
They were strangers again, separated by the vast gulfs of the multiverse, but for one moment, the Master of Rave and the King of Deltora had fought side-by-side with a machine, a vampire, and a god of time.
The sands of Moryon remembered.
