Sorceress Tegan: Requiem of the Dark Island — Awakening of the Veil’s Edge

The dimensional rift didn’t open with a bang, but with a shimmering, iridescent hum. Within the span of a heartbeat, five strangers found themselves standing in the center of a dense, silver-leafed forest that smelled of ancient cedar and sea salt.
The Gathering
Ash Ketchum was the first to react, adjusting his cap and scanning the treeline. "Pikachu, you okay?" The yellow mouse sparked his cheeks, equally wary.
"Where are we?" a voice called out. Boruto Uzumaki landed gracefully from a high branch, his hand resting on a kunai pouch. "This doesn't look like the outskirts of the Hidden Leaf. Did a karma portal malfunction?"
"It looks like Narnia," countered Peter Pevensie, drawing Rhindon with a practiced sweep. He looked older than he had been moments ago, the weight of a High King returning to his shoulders. "But the stars are wrong. The constellations aren't where they should be."
"They aren't the stars of Deltora, either," said a young man in a worn traveler’s cloak. Leif gripped the hilt of the Belt of Deltora, the gems embedded in the steel glowing with a faint, pulsing light. "The Topaz is sensing a deep, clouded magic here."
Lastly, a man in polished Telmarine armor stepped forward, his sword already drawn. Prince Caspian looked at Peter with wide eyes. "High King? Is that you? Or is this another trick of the White Witch’s ghost?"
A Common Threat
Their confusion was cut short by a sound like tearing metal. From the shadows of the silver trees, creatures began to emerge—not quite animals, not quite machines. They were shadows wrapped in jagged, obsidian shards, their eyes glowing with a sickly violet light.
"Shadow Wraiths," Leif hissed, the Diamond on his belt flashing a warning. "They feed on the life force of the land."
"Well, they’re not getting a snack out of us!" Ash yelled. "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
The forest lit up with a crackle of 100,000 volts, slamming into the lead wraith. It shrieked, but the shadows merely knitted back together.
"Ninja Art: Vanishing Rasengan!" Boruto blurred into motion, a swirling orb of chakra appearing in his palm before disappearing into thin air. It struck a wraith from behind, causing it to dissipate into smoke, but three more took its place.
The Alliance
The five heroes fell into a defensive circle, a strange but effective tactical unit.
The Command: Peter and Caspian fought back-to-back. Their swordsmanship was a rhythmic dance of steel, Peter’s heavy strikes breaking the obsidian shells while Caspian’s agile parries found the weak points in their smoky cores.
The Magic: Leif held the Belt high. "The Emerald!" he shouted. The green stone flared, pulsing a wave of purity that slowed the wraiths' regeneration. "Strike now, while they’re weakened!"
The Power: Ash and Boruto coordinated their long-range pressure. "Iron Tail, now!" Ash commanded. As Pikachu leaped, Boruto threw several paper bombs, timing the explosion to launch the Pokémon even faster through the enemy ranks.
"They just keep coming!" Caspian shouted over the din of battle. "Is there a source?"
Leif pointed toward a massive, gnarled tree at the center of the clearing. Its roots were being choked by the same obsidian glass. "The Heart of the Wood. If we can shatter the crystal at its base, the rift will close."
The Final Strike
"I’ll clear a path!" Boruto shouted. He bit his thumb and slammed his hand onto the ground. "Summoning Jutsu!" A giant snake didn't appear—instead, a surge of blue energy propelled him forward. "Cover me!"
Peter stepped in front of a lunging wraith, his shield ringing as he took a heavy blow. "For Narnia!" he bellowed, shoving the creature back with kingly strength.
Ash pointed toward the tree. "Pikachu, use Zippy Zap to give Boruto an opening!"
The electric mouse became a golden blur, zigzagging through the monsters and creating a tunnel of light. Boruto used the momentum, leaping over Peter’s shoulders and spiraling through the air.
"This is it!" Leif cried, channeling the collective power of the Seven Gems into a single beam of light directed at the tree's base.
As the light hit the obsidian, Boruto slammed a massive Rasengan into the fracture. The crystal shattered.
The Parting
The violet light vanished. The forest returned to a peaceful, moonlit silence.
The five warriors stood panting, looking at one another with newfound respect. The rift began to pull at them again—not violently this time, but like a gentle breeze calling them home.
"Nice moves, kid," Boruto said to Ash, offering a fist bump. Ash grinned and met it.
"May your kingdoms find peace," Peter said, sheathing his sword and nodding to Leif and Caspian.
"And yours, High King," Caspian replied, bowing low.
As the light swallowed them, Leif looked at the Belt of Deltora. The stones were calm once more. They were heroes of different worlds, different times, and different powers—but for one night in a nameless forest, they were brothers-in-arms.
