CELESTIAL SIGNS: The Dragon Inside
The dust of the wasteland swirled between them, tasting of salt and ancient magic. Yusuke Urameshi wiped a streak of grime from his cheek, his breathing heavy, his signature green spirit energy flickering like a dying candle.
The Breaking Point
"I want to know what is happening!" Yusuke’s voice cracked, echoing off the jagged rock formations. "I’ve done what you asked of me and followed your path!"
The wind howled, but it didn't drown out the cold, sharp tone of the man standing across from him. Jagen of the Oracion 6 didn't move an inch, his cape fluttering like a raven's wing.
"Yes," Jagen interjected, his eyes narrowed with a piercing intensity. "But you will have to find your own path. And you are not ready."
Yusuke slumped, the weight of a dozen lifetimes hitting him at once. He looked at his hands—the same hands that had punched through the limits of humanity.
"It just hit me... I don't know what I am fighting for anymore," Yusuke muttered, his gaze dropping to the cracked earth. "I gave all I had against Toguro and Doryu. I bled, I died, and I came back... but it was for their reasons. Their grudges. Their games."
He looked up, a terrifyingly hollow expression on his face. "What has all this been leading up to? What if I am not angry anymore?"
The Warrior’s Judgment
Jagen didn't offer a hand of comfort. Instead, he stepped forward, his presence radiating an overwhelming, draconic pressure that forced Yusuke to grit his teeth.
"No matter what you remember or what you think," Jagen declared, "a warrior as incomplete as you has no chance at defending the kingdom. Not until you become a true dragon warrior like myself."
Beside Yusuke, Let—who had been silent until now—clenched his fists, feeling the weight of Jagen’s dismissal. The gap between a street brawler with a Spirit Gun and a master of the Dragon Flame felt like an ocean in that moment.
"Go back to your own world," Jagen commanded, his voice dropping to a low growl. "This transformation cannot happen here. It needs to be done in a Dragon Shrine, not a wasteland like this."
The Path Forward
Yusuke looked at Let, then back at the man who claimed to hold the key to his next evolution. The anger was gone, replaced by a cold, hard clarity. He didn't need a reason to fight for someone else; he needed to find out who he was when the Spirit Detective badge was stripped away.
"Fine," Yusuke said, a small, defiant smirk finally returning to his lips. "Show me the way to the Shrine. If I’m going to be a dragon, I might as well be one that bites."
