The Shadow Lord and the Four Knights of Heaven
The stars don't shine at the very bottom of the universe. Down here, in the cosmic basement, the sky is a bruised purple haze hanging over a planet known as the Endless Illusion.
It is a wasteland of broken dreams and jagged iron, where a single town—a sprawling "utopia for fools"—teems with desperate violence. People here trade their souls for a moment of comfort, forgetting that the ground beneath them is nothing but solidified shadow.
The Echo of the Silver Millennium
Life hadn't always been a fever dream. Long ago, the kingdom of the Silver Millennium stood as a beacon of order. Seven tribes lived in a delicate, beautiful harmony, each guarding a magical gem of immense, mysterious power. But when the gems were scattered and the kingdom fell, the Illusion took hold.
Now, the silence of the wasteland is broken by two sets of footsteps.
The Wanderer and the Small Lady
Leaf, a young man with eyes hardened by the trials of Deltora, adjusted the straps of his mighty armor. His hand rested instinctively on the hilt of his sword. He didn't belong in this realm of ghosts, but the pull of destiny is a heavy chain.
Beside him, a shock of pink hair stood out against the grey dust. Chibiusa clutched her Luna-P ball, her face set in a mask of grim determination that looked far too old for a girl her age.
"My brother is here," she whispered, her voice trembling but certain. "I can feel him. He was taken into the deep dark."
"Stay close," Leaf cautioned, his voice low. "This place feeds on what you want to see. Don't trust the horizon."
The Shadow in the Sky
Suddenly, the temperature plummeted. The violent cacophony of the town fell into a terrified hush. Above the jagged rooftops, a tattered, skeletal mast pierced the purple fog.
"Oh no," a local scavenger whimpered, diving behind a pile of scrap. "It’s the Mortician!"
"I thought that was a myth," another hissed, trembling.
It was no myth. The Mortician—a mysterious, haunted ship that sailed the air as if it were water—drifted silently over the streets. It didn't fire cannons or drop bombs; it simply existed, a vacuum of existence. Legend said it would suck the very life out of anyone caught in its cold shadow.
A Path Destined by Fate
Leaf looked up, the gems in his belt (if he still bore them) or the steel of his resolve pulsing in warning. Chibiusa looked at the ship, her eyes widening. She didn't see a monster; she saw a lead.
"It’s going toward the center of the Illusion," Leaf said, drawing his blade. The metal caught what little light remained. "If your brother is anywhere, he's where that ship is docking."
Two strangers from two different worlds, bound by the loss of a golden age and the hope of a rescue, took their first steps together. The wasteland beckoned, and the Endless Illusion prepared to test if their hearts were as solid as their steel.
