LEGEND OF THE CRYSTAL TOWER: THE DREAMING SPRING & THE SEAL OF PHOBOS (1998)

The Summer of Anu had arrived—a rare, enchanted season blooming only once every few years, casting a pale, ethereal spell over the vast Tower of Druagga. Under this celestial magic, the vicious demons within the spire grew weak, leaving centuries of hidden treasures utterly unprotected. Drawn by tales of glory, countless warriors marched in the footsteps of the legendary King Gilgamesh, aiming to reach the summit and slay Druagga, the evil god said to dwell at its peak.
At least, that was what Prince Phobos had been led to believe.
"Narissa’s been steering clear of us ever since we got Prince Phobos on our side," Irma Lair said, adjusting her pack as the group navigated the dense, foggy forest surrounding the tower's base. She knows he can take her seal."
"But there's no way she can resist this opportunity," Will Vandom said, resting her hand on her older brother Prince Phobos' shoulder. "And when she attacks, we'll be ready."
Phobos stared toward the dark spire in the distance, his brow furrowed in thought. "I thought permission was required to take a heart."
"This night has always been a night of magic and supernatural rules," Will replied quietly, her gaze sweeping across the eerie landscape.
As twilight settled, the forest grew uncomfortably silent. The towering foliage around them seemed drained of all life, their bark pale and bone-dry.
"What do you think about setting up camp here?" Phobos asked, stopping beside a wide clearing dominated by strange, motionless flora. "But... there's something about the trees. It's almost as if they're dead."
"This is a dreaming spring. Drink, gentle stranger, however, all of evil will beware," a resonant voice called out from the mist.
Lief, the King of Deltora, stepped forward from the shadow of a gnarled trunk, holding a glowing chalice filled with shimmering water. Having journeyed to the dreaming spring in years past, he knew the profound power held within its depths.
Phobos stepped toward the spring, accepting the offered chalice. As the cool liquid touched his lips, a vivid, blinding vision consumed his mind: the illusion of the tower shattered, revealing that Druagga was no distant god, but a dark manifestation bound to Phobos’ own royal bloodline, constructed by Narissa to manipulate his quest.
Phobos stumbled backward, gasping as the vision faded, his eyes wide with shock.
Leif laid a firm, grounding hand on the Prince's shoulder, his expression grave. "Whatever you dreamed about... was the truth."
