W.I.T.C.H. Special: Secret of Kandrakar & The Spirit Realm Gang
The heavy oak doors of Meridian’s council chamber slammed shut as the wind outside began to howl. Inside, the tension between the siblings was thick enough to cut with a blade.
"What do you mean, release more prisoners?!" Will Vandom’s voice echoed off the high vaulted ceiling. She glared across the table at Queen Elyon, her hands clenched into fists. "Narissa is stronger than ever! Next time the witch attacks, we’ll need all the help we can get safeguarding our brother! Prince Phobos isn't just a former tyrant, Elyon—he's our brother, and Narissa wants his power!"
Beside the royal sisters, Yusuke Urameshi leaned against a marble pillar, picking at his ear before casting a side-eye at his mentor. "Stop grumbling, Genkai. I’m just listening."
"You're not just listening, you dimwit, you're daydreaming," Genkai snapped, resting her hands on her spirit-cane, her sharp eyes scanning the stone arches. "Keep your guard up. We aren't in the Human Realm or the Spirit World anymore."
From the shadows near the back of the chamber, a cold, smooth voice cut through their bickering. "I am the rightful king," Phobos sneered from behind his glowing magical bonds. His sharp eyes flicked between Will and Elyon—his two younger sisters, born to the same royal lineage, yet standing together against him. "I thought permission was required to take a Heart... yet you both treat our family's ancient power as if it were a common trinket."
"Pipe down, Phobos," Will warned, her Heart of Kandrakar pulsing warmly against her chest, reacting to the complex royal blood tie she shared with both Elyon and the captive prince.
Elyon looked nervously at Will. News had been circulating lately about two human boys with extraordinary spirit energy who had crossed into Meridian. Reports claimed they had single-handedly defeated Lord Cedric and Ripto—two overwhelmingly powerful Apparitions that had terrorized the borderlands. Looking at Yusuke and his strange company, Elyon realized there was a very good chance these intruders were those exact boys.
Before anyone could speak further, the high stained-glass windows rattled. A flash of purple swooped through the balcony doors.
"We need to get out of here—something terrible is about to happen!" Spyro the dragon skidded to a halt on the polished floor, his tail whipping anxiously as he looked between the royal siblings.
"Spyro, calm down," Elyon said, stepping forward as her crown flared with light. "What's happening?"
"I have a message from one of the prisoners!" Spyro pulled a crumpled parchment from his satchel, reading the hasty scribbles aloud:
Dear friend,
There are whispers going around the kingdom. They say the ape Kong himself has placed a bounty on you and all heirs to the Meridian throne. These are dark times, but know you have allies.
— Signed, The Hunter of Avalar
Silence fell over the room. Will stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Elyon, both sisters instinctively stepping between the doorway and their bound brother.
Yusuke cracked his knuckles, a sharp, competitive smirk breaking across his face as blue spirit energy began to ripple around his fists. "An oversized ape putting bounties on Meridian royalty? Sounds like things are finally getting interesting."
