Dark Realm Meridian: The Fall of Babylon
The air inside the dimly lit chamber smelled heavily of ozone and old parchment. Rain lashed against the glass windows of the Citadel, mirroring the storm brewing across the entire magical realm.
Standing in the center of the room, Will Vandom gripped the glowing pink talisman resting against her chest. The Heart of Kandrakar pulsed softly against her palm, echoing the steady rhythm of her own nervous heartbeat. Next to her stood Prince Phobos and Princess Elyon, two royalty of Meridian who had once been on opposite sides of a bloody war, but now stood united under a singular, desperate cause.
An ancient, echoing voice resonated from the shadows above them, solemn and grave:
"There is a new rebellion brewing in Meridian, and its former ruler—your brother, Prince Phobos—is in grave danger. your sister, Elyon, has been targeted and dragged into the shadows of Earth. A dark and difficult time is coming, and many people will need your help. Will Vandom, Phobos, and Elyon... you three have been chosen as the new Guardians of the Veil."
Phobos narrowed his eyes, his long silver hair shifting as he adjusted his robes. "Guardians? Me?" he muttered with a cold, dry smile. "Fate certainly has a twisted sense of humor."
"We don't have time to argue about who deserves the job," Elyon said fiercely, her light magic sparking at her fingertips. "If Earth is threatened, and if Meridian is crumbling again, we act together."
Will nodded, her jaw set. "Where do we start?"
The Edge of Babylon City
The journey through the crumbling tears in the Veil led them far past the familiar streets of Heatherfield and deep into unfamiliar, jagged dimensions.
"I'm impressed that you made it," a calm voice called out as the group stumbled through a swirling mist onto a platform of cold, grey steel.
Standing ahead of them was Kyogi Kagimi, his arms folded neatly into his sleeves, his gaze piercing through the neon haze of the sprawling metropolis below.
"This marks the end of the Beltline," Kyogi told the group, gesturing toward the towering sky-bridges ahead. "It's also the entrance to Babylon City."
Ban Meadow stepped forward, scoffing loudly as he rested a hand on the hilt of his weapon. "Do these jerks do anything besides manipulate people and watch what happens to them?" Ban added, his voice laced with venom. "I won't be going back to that place anymore. I'll walk the path I have chosen, whether or not you tell me to!"
Kyogi tilted his head slightly, unfazed. "I should hope you do. Blind obedience makes for terrible heroes."
The Air Lock
Before the argument could escalate, a sharp rush of wind cut through the platform. A small purple dragon landed heavily on the metallic edge, his golden wings flaring to keep his balance. Smoke curled from Spyro’s nostrils as he looked out into the pitch-black abyss stretching beyond the city's perimeter.
"This area acts as an air lock between our world and the dark realms beyond," Spyro warned, his voice urgent as he looked back at Will, Phobos, and Elyon.
The dragon lowered his stance, pointing a claw toward a massive, mechanical construct humming in the distance—a colossal engine designed to tear reality apart.
"We must stop the Brain Trust before they insert the Heart of Meridian," Spyro barked, his eyes blazing with dragonfire. "If they plug it in, it will activate the master portal... and free the Dark Master once and for all!"
Will looked at her siblings Phobos and Elyon, drawing strength from the Heart in her hand as elemental energy began to swirl around them.
"Not on our watch," Will said. "Let's go."
