Legend of the Bloody August: Queen Weria’s Dragon & The Curse of Yomi
The air in Raizen’s great hall was thick with ancient demon energy, heavy enough to make the stone walls sweat. Gathered around the dying king was an impossible council: Yusuke Urameshi, leaning against a carved pillar with his arms crossed; Will Vandom, clutching the Heart of Kandrakar as it hummed nervously; and Queen Elyon alongside her brother, Prince Phobos, standing in an uneasy truce born of pure necessity.
Raizen coughed, a sound like grinding tectonic plates, before looking up at the four of them.
"There's more about the situation here in the demon world that I haven't told you about yet," Raizen growled, his voice echoing through the chamber.
Yusuke raised an eyebrow. "More bad news, old man? Lay it on us."
"The relationships here are complex," Raizen continued, his glowing eyes fixing on each of his children in turn. "In the past, I fought with the Bloody August and Mokuro merely for the sake of fighting. But things have changed. You can get along with Mokuro—he's a traditionalist. He won't bother with the human or spirit worlds. But beware of the Bloody August."
Raizen leaned forward, his jaw set. "Lead them well, my children."
Meanwhile, on the Outer Edge of Meridian...
Miles away from Raizen's fortress, the sky cracked with dark magic. Queen Elyon gasped, staggering back as a sudden, agonizing drain ripped through her chest.
"My powers... what have you done?!" Elyon cried out, clutching her heart as the glowing purple aura around her shattered into mist.
Standing across from her in the shadows, Nerissa smiled, tossing a pulsing black jewel from hand to hand.
"When the gem pulsed this morning, I knew the time had come," Nerissa purred, her voice dripping with dark satisfaction. She turned slightly to the dark-cloaked figure emerging from the tree line. "Have you discovered the Sword of Baltanders?"
"Yes," answered Sorcerer Stabber Orphen, his hand resting on the hilt of his own blade as his golden eyes scanned the horizon. "It's in a small town not far from here."
