Ironwood Desolation: Legend of the Soul Orb & The Last Resistance
The campfires in the Ironwood Forest burned low, casting long, jagged shadows against the ancient, moss-covered trees. Under the starry night sky, the silence felt heavy, almost suffocating.
Will Vandom sat near the edge of the clearing, her hand hovering over the glowing heart of Kandrakar. The magical light flickered erratically. Across from her, Kurama adjusted his dark crimson robes, his sharp green eyes scanning the darkened tree line, while Leif checked the sheath of his sword. On a high rock above them, Spyro blew a small flame into the air, restless.
"I should have put this together sooner," Will said softly, her voice barely carrying over the crackle of the fire. She looked up at the silver-haired figure standing near the dark waters of the forest pool—her brother, Prince Phobos, his facial markings illuminated by the moonlight.
"When I was with Narissa," Will continued, "she had Genkai and Barta under her thrall. It looks like she's collecting former guardians..."
Phobos turned slowly, his eyes cold and sharp. "And she won't stop until the ancient power of our bloodline is completely her own."
"Then we're almost out of options," Leif said, stepping forward into the firelight. "It looks like Yusuke Urameshi and Prince Phobos are the only guardians that remain."
Spyro glided down from the rock, landing with a soft thud. "Yusuke? Who's he again?"
"The Guardian of Earth," Kurama answered quietly, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he thought of his old ally. "He's currently on Zibmala—the purple planet. It's a treacherous, mystical jungle, far beyond the reaches of our usual portals."
Will looked directly at Phobos, her brow furrowed with a question that had been burning since he found their camp. "So... how'd you find me? I didn't think I knew where I was."
Phobos let out a low, humorless chuckle, looking at his younger sister. "Yusuke Urameshi told me. He reached out through the spirit glass before Narissa's shadow fell over his realm. He sent word to me, urging me to find both you and our sister Elyon before it was too late."
"How much time do we have?" Leif asked, gripping the hilt of his sword tightly.
"We only have a week," Phobos stated plainly, staring up at the darkening sky where the silhouette of a monstrous, three-headed dragon passed silently across the stars. "The odds aren't good."
A heavy quiet fell over the group. The looming threat of Narissa's thrall meant facing friends and family turned into mindless puppets—a fate far worse than destruction.
Will stood up, her hand tightening around her talisman. The pink aura flared around her, casting bold highlights across the dark forest as the bond with her royal siblings surged within her.
"I may not understand everything," Will said, her voice firm, breaking the oppressive silence, "but isn't it better for a person to lose their life than their soul?"
Yusuke stepped out from the shadows of the tree line, his Spirit Gun raised and glowing with bright blue spiritual energy, a smirk playing on his lips despite the grim situation. "Then let's make sure none of us lose either
