The Dragon War - Twilight of The Apocalypse Album Intro
The rain in Meridian didn’t fall like water; it fell like ash, heavy and cold against the shattered cobblestones.
"So, tell me what's going on," Will Vandom muttered, wiping a streak of dark mud from her cheek. She pulled her cloak tighter around her shoulders, staring up at the jagged black spire of Prince Phobos’s citadel in the distance. "Are you guys in another struggle to save the world? Which world, exactly?"
Beside her, Yusuke Urameshi leaned against the remains of a stone archway, his hands buried deep in the pockets of his green jacket. He cracked his neck, a bitter smirk tugging at his lips.
"Take your pick," Yusuke said, nodding toward the horizon where purple lightning tore through the sky. "We're against each other, against the odds, against everything. Prince Phobos and Goku are already on opposing sides. Phobos wants the Veil demolished so his reach can spread, and Goku... well, Goku just wants to stop the carnage, but Phobos has tapped into something ancient. This isn't just a political coup anymore, Will. This is a demon war where humans should not tread."
Will looked down at her glowing palm, where the Heart of Kandrakar pulsed weakly. "A demon war... a fact that leads me down a path of troubling thoughts. If humans shouldn't tread here, what are we supposed to do?"
"We survive," a smooth voice interjected.
Kurama stepped out from the shadows of a decaying alleyway, his crimson hair catching the dim light of Meridian's dying sun. His expression was cool, calculated, yet a underlying tension tightened his posture. "There is a rebellion in Meridian, Will. A dark and difficult time is coming, and many will need your help. The Veil is fracturing, and Kandrakar knew the old ways wouldn't suffice against forces from the Netherworld and the cosmos combined."
He looked around the small, improbable group standing in the ruined courtyard.
"Will Vandom, Goku, Prince Phobos, Yusuke Urameshi, and myself... whether by fate or desperate design, you have been chosen as the new Guardians of the Veil."
"Great. A cosmic promotion," Yusuke muttered, adjusting his Spirit Gun finger. "Just what my resume needed."
"It's not a title, Yusuke, it's a death sentence if we mess this up," Kurama replied quietly. He turned his green eyes back to Will. "I heard something from my informant before the lines of communication were severed. The heir to the throne—Elyon—is somewhere on Earth. Phobos knows it. That’s why he’s pushing so hard to tear the Veil down from this side."
Will’s breath hitched. "Elyon? I... I see." She swallowed hard, the weight of the realization crashing down on her. "What did he look like? The informant... did he say how close Phobos's scouts are to finding her?"
Before Kurama could answer, the earth beneath them violently shuddered. A golden aura exploded into the sky miles away near the citadel, accompanied by a shockwave that blew the ash rain backward. High above, a terrifying, regal laughter echoed through the clouds, answered by the roaring battle cry of a Saiyan unleashing his full power.
Kurama looked toward the distant battlefield, his Rose Whip already slithering into his hand.
"There's no time left to explain," Kurama said softly. "Look around you, Will. You have begun a journey that will take all your power just to survive
