Bloody August: Curse of the Dragon Spiral Tower

The rain in Babylon City didn’t fall; it bled down the neon-slicked skyscrapers like static on an old television screen.
Masaki Karsu gripped Genji’s collar, his knuckles white, his breath ragged. Around them, the world was literally tearing itself apart at the seams. The digital sky flickered, revealing the raw, pulsing code beneath the Limitless Fortress.
"You gave up being the Lightning Emperor!" Masaki shouted, his voice cracking over the sound of reality fracturing. "What happens here shouldn't matter to you anymore, Genji!"
Genji didn't pull away. He just looked at Masaki with eyes that had seen the birth and death of a thousand virtual worlds—eyes that were suddenly, devastatingly tired.
"Yes, I hear you," Genji said softly, a ghost of a smile touching his lips. "If only it were so."
Before Masaki could scream at him again, the ground vanished. The ancient, looming mansion, the impossible forest that grew within the concrete depths of the lower town—all of it dissolved into a blinding flash of data packets.
Then, total silence.
Masaki blinked. He was lying on his back on a cold steel grate in the lower town. The air smelled of ozone and damp garbage. The mansion was gone. The forest was gone.
"Maybe it was just a dream," Masaki muttered, rubbing his throbbing temples.
"Or maybe not," Genji replied, leaning against a rusted pipe nearby, idly tossing a dead spark of electricity between his fingers.
The secrets of the Limitless Fortress were secrets no more for our heroes. They knew the truth now—the reality of the Brain Trust, the simulated nature of their cage, and the terrifying scale of the world above. But answers only brought more questions.
"N's whereabouts are..." Masaki trailed off, looking at the empty space where their enigmatic ally had stood just moments before.
"He vanished without a trace," Genji finished. He looked down at his hands, which were trembling slightly. The absolute power of the Lightning Emperor was gone, traded away for a chance at a normal life.
Masaki looked at him for a long moment, the anger fading from his chest, replaced by a grim respect. "But at least one part of you hasn't changed. We can't leave Makubex behind."
Genji paused, then let out a soft laugh. "No. We can't."
"I was sent by the Brain Trust to keep the lower town under control," a voice echoed from the shadows of the alleyway.
Masaki and Genji spun around, weapons instantly drawn. A figure stepped into the dim light of a flickering streetlamp. It was one of the elite enforcers, his uniform torn, his cybernetic eyes dimming.
"But you changed all that," the enforcer whispered, looking at Genji with a mixture of awe and fear. "When I became one of the Four Kings... I thought I understood power. I thought I knew what the Brain Trust wanted."
The enforcer stumbled forward, grabbing Masaki's shoulder with a desperate, iron grip. His internal systems were failing, coughing up black oil.
"Master..." the enforcer gasped, his eyes wide with a sudden, sharp terror. "Will the Bloody August kill Gary Oak and Paul if he doesn't get the sword?"
Masaki’s blood ran cold. Gary and Paul were still trapped in the upper sectors, holding the line against the Brain Trust's most ruthless executioner. The Bloody August was a program designed for total deletion. If it caught them...
"We have to give him the sword," the enforcer choked out. "It's the only way to save them."
Genji’s eyes hardened, the last remnants of the Lightning Emperor flaring to life in the depths of his pupils. He stepped between the dying enforcer and Masaki, his voice dropping to a dangerous, absolute whisper.
"But we can't give it the sword," Genji said, looking up at the towering monoliths of the upper city. "If the Bloody August gets that blade, he won't just kill Gary and Paul. He'll delete the entire lower town. We fight. Right now."
