The Sleeping Dragon of Babylon City
The neon lights of the lower levels of the Limitless Fortress flickered, casting long, jagged shadows against the concrete walls. The air was thick with static and tension.
Ginji Amano stood frozen, his hands trembling slightly as sparks of electricity involuntarily danced across his fingertips.
"What is it, Ginji? What’s wrong?" Ban Mido asked, his voice sharp but laced with an undercurrent of genuine concern. He adjusted his purple sunglasses, his eyes scanning the dark corridor ahead.
Ginji swallowed hard, looking back at his partner. "What I'm worried about... is that whoever kidnapped Makubex did it without leaving a trace. What in the world is happening? I just don't get it."
From the shadows behind them, a dark figure stepped forward. Shido Fuyuki, the Beast Master, crossed his arms, his expression grimmer than usual. "The animals may be out there, but they won't answer my call," he muttered, his voice tight. "They're there... they just won't answer."
"An interference in the spiritual wavelengths, perhaps?" Kazuki Fuuchouin, the Thread Master, murmured softly. He stood alongside Tatsuma Heyu, his elegant fingers already subtly weaving his defensive koto strings into the air.
Suddenly, a heavy, echoing footstep shattered the silence of the corridor.
"He's come back," a voice rasped.
The group turned sharply to see Masaki Kurusu emerging from the gloom. The atmosphere shifted instantly, suffocatingly heavy. In the golden era of the VOLTS, the four warriors who stood directly under the Lightning Emperor were revered and feared as the Four Kings.
But something was fundamentally wrong with the timeline.
Beside Kurusu stood a grotesque, towering figure clad in crude armor, wielding a massive club—Gnasty Gnorc. The creature sneered, his presence an anomaly bleeding into the high-tech, dystopian reality of the Virtual Reality matrix.
"Gnasty Gnorc..." Tatsuma Heyu whispered, his eyes narrowing as he and Kyogi Kagimi stepped forward, their weapons drawn.
"As Tatsuma Heyu and Kyogi Kagimi entered Babylon Tower on that fateful day," Masaki Kurusu stated, his voice echoing like a prophecy, "we sealed away the man who created the disturbance in the Dragon Stream. But the seal has broken. The lower levels are collapsing into data fragments."
Ginji looked up toward the shimmering apex of Babylon Tower, his eyes flashing with the volatile, dangerous light of the Lightning Emperor. The barrier between worlds was tearing open, and whoever had taken Makubex was using the Dragon Stream to rewrite the very rules of the Limitless Fortress.
"Then we rewrite them back," Ban said, a predatory smile creeping onto his face as he gripped his fist, the power of the Evil Eye surging in his veins. "Let's go get our strategist back."
