Ghost City - Chronicles of The Jewel Shards
The sky above them didn’t have a sun; it had a fracture. A jagged, violet tear bled static across the horizon, and looming through the rip was a silhouette that defied geometry. It was a sprawling, impossible labyrinth of black iron and floating towers, suspended in a void where gravity seemed to be a suggestion rather than a law.
"Look at that..." Ash Ketchum breathed, stepping forward, his fist tightening around the strap of his backpack. "Is it... could that be the Limitless Fortress?"
"Are you sure this is a parallel world?" Kyogi Kagimi asked, his eyes narrowed as he analyzed the spatial distortion. His voice remained cool, but his hand hovered near his weapon.
Beside them, the air grew heavy and thick with miasma. Naraku floated slightly off the ground, a cruel, amused smirk playing on his lips. "A parallel world... how tedious. Another playground of fools, no doubt."
Sesshomaru remained silent, his silver hair catching the strange, violet light. His golden eyes weren’t fixed on the fortress, but on the man standing at the front of their mismatched vanguard: Masaki Karsu. To Sesshomaru, the geometry of worlds mattered less than the strength required to cut through them.
Masaki Karsu didn't turn around. He kept his gaze locked on the hovering monolith, his cloak billowing in a wind that came from nowhere.
"Parallel worlds," Karsu began, his voice carrying an eerie, grounded clarity despite the cosmic chaos around them. "Think of them like this: a road splits into a fork. This way is A, this way is B. You may want to travel both, but you can't take both at the same time. You are forced to choose, and the other path vanishes into the 'what ifs' of history."
He paused, the violet light reflecting off his sharp eyes.
"But let's say you were able to."
Ash swallowed hard, looking from Karsu to the towering monstrosity in the sky. The sheer scale of the Limitless Fortress was suffocating. It wasn't just a building; it felt like a graveyard of realities that had taken the wrong turn at the fork.
"So answer now, Kagimi," Ash shouted, his youthful impatience breaking through the tense silence. He turned fiercely toward the strategist. "What we do next all depends on your answer!"
Kagimi didn't flinch at the pressure. He looked at the bleeding sky, then back to Karsu's rigid back. Pieces of a cosmic puzzle were violently slamming into place in his mind. The energy readings, the destabilization of their own timelines, the strange rumors echoing through the dimensional rifts—it all pointed to one terrifying conclusion.
"It's not just a fortress anymore," Kagimi said softly, a rare shadow of dread crossing his face. "It's an anchor. And someone is pulling the chains from the inside."
Ash’s eyes widened as the final realization hit him like a thunderbolt. He looked up at the fractured sky, his voice echoing across the wasteland.
"So it's true... Tenchi Masaki is really leaking the Limitless Fortress!"
Naraku let out a low, dark chuckle, his baboon skin cloak shifting in the wind. "A god playing with his toys, or a king losing control of his castle? Either way, the chaos suits me."
Sesshomaru’s hand drifted to the hilt of Bakusaiga. "It matters not who leaks it," the demon lord stated coldly, his aura flaring with lethal intent. "If it stands in my path, it will be destroyed."
The fortress groaned in the distance, a sound like grinding tectonic plates, as another piece of a foreign reality bled into the sky. The fork in the road had just broken entirely, and they were standing right at the crash site.
