Dragon Shores: The Lost Runes of the Limitless Fortress Album Intro
The neon signs of Babylon City flickered against the heavy, bruised purple of the night sky. High above, the jagged spires of the Limitless Fortress cast long, oppressive shadows over the cracked pavement.
Standing in the glow of a rusted, buzzing arcade sign, Masaki kept his back turned to the group. His tattered beige coat caught the damp wind blowing off the lower sectors.
"Well, answer me now, Masaki," Kyogi Kagimi demanded, his voice tight, cracking under the weight of betrayal. "It all depends on your answer. So it's true... you're really going to leave?"
Masaki closed his eyes, the faint hum of the city’s power grid echoing the constant, overwhelming frequency of the fortress.
"Yeah," Masaki said softly, his tone flat but resolute. "It's better I am not in the Limitless Fortress. Better I am not so close to Makubex."
"But why?!" Karsu stepped forward, his pale eyes flashing with desperate frustration. "I thought if I could use his power, we could obtain real peace!"
"Makubex's power isn't a tool for peace, Karsu. It’s a cage," Masaki replied, finally looking back over his shoulder, his expression hardened by a dark, cynical reality. "And I won't be trapped in it anymore."
A few paces away, Sailor Moon leaned heavily against her staff, her uniform torn and smudged with soot from their escape through the lower districts. The usual bright, sparkling optimism in her eyes was replaced by a grim exhaustion. Next to her, Spyro shifted his weight on a crumbling stone ledge, a low hiss of dark purple flame escaping his snout as he scanned the horizon.
"We don't have time to argue about Makubex right now," Sailor Moon interrupted, her voice carrying a rare, serious edge. "We found some of the runes we need. But the rest..." She looked up at the looming gothic arches that bridged the gap between the mega-structures.
"They're on the other side of the Limitless Fortress," Spyro growled, his eyes tracking a tattered, dark-sailed airship as it drifted silently past a fractured, crescent moon. "Deep in the forgotten realms of Babylon City. If we're going to survive crossing through his territory, we need to move now—with or without you, Masaki."
Masaki looked at the dragon, then at the shattered skyline. The choice was laid bare in the dark fantasy wasteland they now called home, and the clock was ticking.
