Black Willow: Blade of the Demon Energy
The air near the edge of the domain didn’t just smell of ash; it hummed with a low, oppressive static.
High on a jagged outcrop overlooking the ash-choked valley, Hei stood with his arms folded, his dark cloak snapping against the hot, dry wind. He looked down at the odd assembly gathering near the blackened roots of the two legendary trees. Below, the Winx girls were trying to stabilize Faragonda, whose form was slowly being consumed by Valtor’s dark spell.
Valtor’s magic was ancient, volatile, and absolute. It couldn't be dissolved by standard convergence, nor purged by light. The only way to undo its grip was to reverse the flow of time itself—and to do that, they needed the sap of the Black Willow.
Eons ago, before the grand fires burned everything to cinder, those two colossal trees were the thriving pulse of Kuruda, the legendary capital of Kandrakar. Back then, it was a lush, prosperous land of endless green. Now, after the cataclysm, Kandrakar was a dead wasteland, and the twin trees stood as the solitary survivors of a forgotten era. The thick, supernatural air surrounding them drew swarms of demon insects, which circled overhead like sharks drawn to blood in the ocean.
"Is that a sign of things to come, or is the danger already right in front of us?" Yusuke Urameshi asked, leaning back against a slab of rock with his hands tucked into his pockets.
"Than again... what do I care?" Hei said coolly, his eyes set in the distance as he looked out over the valley.
Standing alongside them was Scarface, scouting the terrain with a focused intensity, watching over both the Winx and the Guardians of the Veil. "What happened?" Scarface muttered, narrowing his eyes as shadowy forms began breaching the perimeter below. "It looks as if information has leaked."
"It's Kane and Phalanx," Diaz, the Svall of Kuruda, confirmed as he stepped up beside Scarface. "They've tracked us here."
Scarface drew his weapon, glancing over at Yusuke and Hei. "You know we're completely surrounded, right? And I think these guys are serious."
Before Yusuke could respond, a flash of deep red energy sliced through the gloom, carving a path through the gathering demon swarm. A tall figure stepped out from the ruined chamber of Kandrakar to join their line.
"It's been a long time, Diaz," said the Svall Kai Shink, also known as Crimson, entering the fray.
"Kai," Diaz acknowledged with a sharp nod. "What's the situation with the Heart?"
Kai turned his gaze down toward the Guardians of the Veil, where Will Vandom was struggling to maintain a barrier around Faragonda and the Black Willow. "Will Vandom’s selection as Guardian of Meridian may have been to protect her sister, Queen Elyion, the Heart of Meridian... but Nerissa tricked Elyion into giving her the Heart of Meridian. That dark power is what fueled this ambush."
Scarface cracked his neck, adjusting his grip as the demon insects began their dive toward the tree. "Then we don't let them step a foot closer to the Willow. Let's clear a path for the Winx."
