Xanadu Dark: The Codex of Kandrakar — Blood on the Cherry Blossom Album Intro
The mist over Kandrakar hung heavy, thick as unwritten history, while the echo of an ancient verse lingered in the chill air.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure-dome decree, where Alph, the sacred river, ran through caverns measureless to man down to a sunlit sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground with walls and towers were girdled round...
The words weren't just a poem; they were a blueprint woven into the reality of the realm. Down below, hidden beyond the sacred waters and ancient forests as old as the hills, where incense-bearing trees blossomed under an ethereal sky, stood a quiet, forgotten shrine.
Inside the courtyard, the air was sharp with the scent of pine and petrified wood. Tatsuma Heyu stood amidst a quiet storm of swirling pink petals, his hands gripped tight around the hilt of his blade. He looked up at the towering canopy of cherry blossoms overhead, his voice breaking through the silence like thunder.
"In the end, the people of this world are like cherry blossoms," Tatsuma shouted, his aura flaring with brilliant, resolute light. "They bloom for a short time and then fall! Then I’ll be a cherry blossom that does not fall!"
Far across the planar divide, inside the grand chamber of the Guardians, the vision shattered like glass.
Will Vandom snapped awake, the Heart of Kandrakar pulsing violently against her chest, casting a brilliant magenta glow across the stone walls. Beside her, Bloom flared her Dragon Flame, her blue eyes wide with residual heat from the shared dream, while Sakura Avalon tightened her grip on her Star Staff, the ambient magic around them buzzing like a startled hive.
"I know where Tatsuma Heyu is," Prince Phobos said, stepping out from the shadows of the arched doorway. His voice was smooth, edged with a cold, calculating calm that made the air in the room drop several degrees. "He’s somewhere deep in Kandrakar—and he is on Nerissa’s trail."
Will turned to him, her knuckles white. "What is this dream trying to tell us? Why show us the pleasure-dome, the caverns, and Tatsuma all at once?"
"Because the shrine isn't just a haven," Sakura said softly, tracing the glowing runes fading from her staff. "The shrine is what Tatsuma guards. Nerissa isn't just hunting him for his power—she's after the core of that realm. If he falls, the whole sanctuary falls with him."
Bloom stepped forward, her fiery wings manifesting in a quiet burst of embers. "Then we don't let him fall. He claimed he'd be the blossom that stays on the branch—it's time we go make sure he keeps that promise."
