Dark Rose Doku Sentia: Thorn of the Eclipse
The scorching sun beat down on the endless expanse of sand, though the sky above them was rapidly turning an unnatural, bruised purple.
"The Rose Morning Star has got to be close now!" Takuya Kanbara shouted, shielding his eyes as he squinted across the shimmering horizon.
Prince Phobos paused, crossing his arms and tilting his head toward the darkening atmosphere. "Yeah, but it's midday... are the clouds supposed to be that dark?" he asked, genuinely puzzled by the rapid decay of light.
"That's the Dark Gate," Will Vandom explained, stepping forward as she pulled her cloak tight against the rising wind. She pointed toward a massive, looming temple-like structure built directly into the desert cliffs ahead. "That temple-like structure in front of us is the Dark Gate. Through it lies the Continent of Darkness. It's an eerie land, shrouded in utter darkness."
"If Mr. Joker isn't the beast in Heatherfield that we're looking for, then who is?" Anita asked, glancing nervously between the others.
Will, speaking as the sister of Queen Elyon and Prince Phobos, turned to address the group with absolute quiet resolve. "All you have to do to reveal a beast in human form is touch it with the Heart of Kandrakar," she said, lifting the radiant talisman. "It's in the shape of a rose—an emerald stone that uncovers the heart of one that is alone."
From the shadows of a nearby crumbling pillar, a mysterious figure leaned casually against the stone, watching the group with a keen, mocking glint in his eye. He directed his gaze toward Maggie of the Paper Sisters, who had been listening intently to the unfolding plan.
"Everyone is lying to you," the mysterious figure purred softly. "Even if I am telling tales, who could tell which one is the genuine article? Because if everyone is lying, then the truth can never see the light of day. So... what flavor of bull do you like best?"
Maggie narrowed her eyes at the stranger, nonplussed by the sudden riddle as the wind swept across the sands toward the open gate.
