The Black Wing: Gate to the Blood-City of Goblins (Those Who Hunt the Fallen) Album Intro
The dust of the ancient subterranean passageway clung to the back of my throat. For three generations, my family had been bound to a single, consuming obsession. My grandfather died in the shadow of a towering obsidian spire; my father perished trying to siphon the shimmering green light of Eco from a cracked precursor conduit.
I inherited their journals, their debts, and their endless questions: Who were the precursors? Why did they construct these monumental ruins across our world? How did they tap into the raw life energy of the planet, and why did they vanish into nothingness without a trace?
"We should be coming across a large cavern soon," I said, brushing a hand against the damp stone wall. "Once we make it through, we’ll be halfway to the inner sanctum."
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Directly in front of us stood a towering, seamless door carved from dark, iridescent metal.
"Wait," I muttered, shining my light over the intricate runic etchings. "This door wasn't here when my father mapped these tunnels. It looks familiar... but why?"
Before anyone could answer, the air vibrated with a sharp, synthetic hum. A loud, arcade-like chime echoed down the corridor, followed by a booming, synthesized voice that sounded like a cross between a carnival barker and an 8-bit villain.
“WELCOME TO GOBLIN CITY! WHERE YOU AND YOUR TEAM OF SEVEN HEROES MUST CLASH IRON WITH THE EVIL GOBLIN KING!”
The heavy door hissed open, unleashing a blinding beam of neon light into the ancient dark. We stepped through, forced into a massive, sprawling arena where seven distinct figures stood assembled, brought together by forces far beyond our understanding:
Yusuke Urameshi, spirit gun primed, crackling with sapphire Spirit Energy.
Kurama, calm and lethal, holding a single red rose that hummed with spirit power.
Bloom, Dragon Flame blazing softly around her hands as leader of the Winx.
Diaz the Black Wing, his dark feathers rustling with quiet, brooding intensity.
Prince Phobos, dark magic coiling around his fingers, forced to stand beside his estranged younger sister.
Will Vandom, Heart of Kandrakar glowing brightly on her chest as leader of the Guardians.
Jak, son of the great Mar and student of Samos the Sage, a channeling ring on his forearm humming with pure Green Eco.
The floor beneath us shuddered as the shadows assembled into a colossal, armored monstrosity—the Goblin King, flanked by a horde of iron-clad beasts. The arena instantly erupted into chaos.
Yusuke leaped forward, unleashing a blast of blue energy, while Will and Bloom combined lightning and dragon fire to hold back the left flank. Kurama’s rose whip lashed through the air with surgical precision, clearing path after path alongside Phobos's oppressive dark blasts. Jak drew on the surrounding Eco, his movements turning into a blur of raw power as he smashed through the vanguard.
Suddenly, a massive, spiked morningstar swung through the smoke.
Diaz intercepted the blow to protect Bloom, but the impact echoed with a sickening crack. He was thrown across the stone floor, skidding to a halt at my feet. His wings—magnificent, shadowy constructs—hung shattered and torn, drenched in deep crimson.
The Goblin King towered over him, laughing through a rusty visor. "Look at you! Your flesh torn, your bones crushed! I'm afraid you'll never fly again! What more do you intend to give by drawing this out?"
Diaz coughed, pressing his hand into the cold dirt. A deep, agonizing breath rattled through his chest, but when he raised his head, his eyes didn't hold defeat—they blazed with an unyielding fire.
"A soul stained red with the pride of a warrior," Diaz growled, his voice rising above the roar of battle. "Let my soul give me the wings to fight... power to soar!"
The blood staining his torn feathers flared with a blinding, incandescent red aura. The sheer force of his willpower ignited the residual Eco lingering in the cavern air. Crimson energy burst from his back, manifesting not as feathers, but as twin wings of pure, unfiltered light and flame.
With a roar that shook the ancient precursor stone, Diaz launched himself into the air, blazing like a falling star straight into the heart of the enemy.
