Battle of Kings: The Apparition Gang and the Ultimate North Wind Strike
The dark, sulfurous air of the Demon World hung heavy in the grand pavilion. Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, sat crossed-legged on a polished obsidian throne, idly stroking a Persian that purred with a low, menacing rumble. Across from him stood Kito of the Winged G-Men, his face shadowed, his posture rigid and unyielding.
Between them stood Younger Toguro. Even dressed in his mundane human suit and sunglasses, his sheer physical presence seemed to warp the very air around him, his massive shoulders twitching with buried, terrifying power.
"What are we up against anyway?" Giovanni asked, his voice dripping with cool disdain. He flicked a speck of ash from his tailored suit. "I know they're not much. Humans are fragile, easily broken creatures. My operatives have conquered regions, captured gods of myth. What could two boys possibly do?"
Toguro’s jaw tightened. A low, rumbling chuckle vibrated from his chest, a sound that made Giovanni’s Persian hiss and back away.
"You underestimate them because of their species, Giovanni. That will be your undoing," Toguro said, his voice deep and gravelly. "There have been rumors circulating lately. Whispers through the underworld that have reached even my ears. These aren't ordinary children. We are talking about two human boys with extraordinary spirit energy."
Kito crossed his arms, his eyes narrowing. "Ordinary humans don't survive the spiritual gauntlets of this world. What have they actually done?"
"They have already achieved the impossible," Toguro replied, stepping forward. The ground beneath his heel cracked slightly. "They entered the Labyrinth Castle. They fought, bled, and completely defeated the Four Saint Beasts. Suzaku and his generals are no more. And it didn't stop there. The human hunter, Rando—a monster who stole the techniques of a hundred masters—was beaten into the dirt by the spirit detective."
Giovanni's eyes sharpened. He knew of Rando. He knew of the Saint Beasts. They were very powerful Apparitions—beings that standard weaponry and even high-level Pokémon would struggle to scratch.
"They are growing stronger every day," Toguro continued, turning his gaze toward the massive balcony that overlooked the sprawling, chaotic expanse of the Spirit World and the demon realms beyond. "Those who bear their fangs against the King of Beasts will pay the ultimate price. If you think this is a simple territorial skirmish, or a routine heist, you are dead wrong."
Toguro turned back to face the two syndicate leaders, the spiritual pressure radiating from his body suddenly spiking, forcing Kito to take half a step back and making Giovanni’s grip on his throne tighten.
"I want every warrior in the Spirit World, every grunt in Team Rocket, and every soldier in the G-Men to understand one thing," Toguro growled, his sunglasses reflecting the eerie, ambient glow of the underworld.
"This is a battle of Kings."
Giovanni slowly stood up, a dark, ruthless smile spreading across his face. The arrogance was gone, replaced by the thrill of a true conquest. "A battle of Kings... precisely the kind of game I excel at."
"Then prepare your forces," Kito said, drawing his weapon, the steel gleaming in the dark. "Because if those boys are coming for the crown, we'll make sure they bleed for it."
