The wind howled through the ruined spires of the castle, a sharp, biting gale that carried the scent of ozone and ancient dust.
"Stop relying so heavily on your Regalia!" Ikki’s voice echoed in Minami’s head, a bitter ghost of a reprimand. "Rika isn't here. You'll never become the Sky King now."
Minami gripped his knees, staring down at the cracked stone floor. I don't know what happened inside my mind, nor do I have any way to put it into words. It was a moment that defied all words—when I felt something inside me fall asleep. A warmth, a spark of ambition, snuffed out in an instant.
"Why is it so cold here?" Minami muttered, shivering.
"Because this is World's End," a voice replied.
Minami looked up. Standing near the precipice of the jagged mountain peak were three figures who belonged to entirely different worlds, brought together by a tear in the fabric of reality itself.
"This is the World's End? Why... isn't that the edge of the earth?" Akira asked, his eyes scanning the endless, desolate white expanse below.
Gohan, his violet Saiyan gi torn and smudged with soot, stepped forward. His expression was grim, devoid of his usual gentle nature. Beside him stood Leif, the King of Deltora, his hand resting firmly on the hilt of his sword, the Belt of Deltora gleaming faintly beneath his traveling cloak.
"It used to be just a mountain," Gohan said softly, his voice cutting through the freezing wind. "But whatever pulled us here changed the geography. The landscape is bleeding into other worlds."
"We aren't alone," Leif warned, his eyes narrowing as he looked toward the horizon. A massive, shadowy silhouette was materializing through the blizzard. The pressure in the air dropped instantly, heavy with malice and a suffocating, primal power. "Those who bear their fangs against the king of beasts will pay the ultimate price."
Just then, the wind howled through the castle window—miles away, in a completely different realm of existence.
Maximillion Pegasus woke up in a cold sweat.
He gasped, clutching his chest as his silk sheets tangled around him. He blinked, looking around his lavish, well-lit bedchamber. Everything seemed peaceful enough. The ocean waves crashed gently outside his kingdom, and the moonlight spilled softly across the floor.
Yet, he could feel it. A terrifying vibration in the air.
"I may have lost my Millennium Eye sometime ago," Pegasus whispered into the empty, opulent room, his voice trembling slightly as he touched the smooth skin over his left eye socket. "But I can still sense something terrible is about to unfold."
The threads of reality were fraying. The Sky King's fallen heir, the defenders of Earth and Deltora, and the masters of ancient magic were all being drawn toward the same catastrophic center. And in the freezing dark of World's End, the beast was finally waking up.
