Storm Riders: Apocalypse of the Bleeding Cherry Trees

The static on the old CB radio in Professor Oak’s laboratory hissed violently before cutting out, replaced by a cold, arrogant voice that sent a chill through the room.
"Hello, Professor... Remember me? It's me, Spector—the future leader of the new age."
Professor Oak gripped the edge of his desk, staring at the speaker. Behind him, Ash Ketchum, Spike, and Icky—the newly crowned King of Sleeping Forest—sharpened their focus. The dark, twisted energy gripping the region finally had a name, and a face.
"Apes will soon rule the world, just like it was supposed to be," Spector’s voice crackled, dripping with malice. "I have infected five cherry trees in each of the city parks. The corruption is spreading. You must destroy all five trees simultaneously in order to stop the Syndiclon leader, Dread. Fail, and the world falls."
The radio went dead.
The weight of the ultimatum hung heavily in the dim light of the lab. The dark fantasy corruption had already warped the surrounding wilderness into a gothic nightmare of gnarled roots and glowing, toxic green mist. Five targets. Out in the pitch-black night. All needing to fall at the exact same second.
Ash turned his cap backward, a fierce determination in his eyes, and looked toward Spike and Icky.
"He changed the rules," Ash said, his voice steady despite the impossible odds. "Like he does every time."
Icky adjusted his sleek, dark goggles, a confident, razor-sharp smirk cutting through the shadows. The power of the Regalia hummed through his Air Gear skates, ready to tear through the corrupted terrain.
"Let him change 'em," Icky replied, the roar of the wind already rising around his feet. "But that's the essence of a Storm Rider. We're a wind that blows away everything in its path."
The Multi-Pronged Strike
With no time to lose, the team split up, communicating through micro-comms synced to Oak's terminal. Speed was their only weapon against Spector's countdown.
Park 1 & 2 (The Airborne Assault): Icky and Akira blasted into the night, leaving trails of light in the dark forest. Using the sheer verticality of the Regalia, they bounded over the canopy. Icky caught the wind, creating a slipstream vortex that sliced through the first glowing cherry tree at the exact same moment Akira smashed through the second with brutal, chained precision.
Park 3 (The Magical Cleanse): Deep in the heart of the central park, Zoey Mew Mew Power used her dark-infused magic staff. Channeling her energy, she unleashed a localized blast that completely vaporized the third corrupted tree, purifying the surrounding soil.
Park 4 & 5 (The Ground Game): Ash and Spike took the remaining sectors. Spike used his specialized gadgetry to plant a synchronized demolition charge on the fourth tree, while Ash commanded Pikachu to unleash a maximum-output Thunderbolt. The massive electrical strike acted as the universal detonation signal.
The Wind of Change
"Three... Two... One... Now!" Spike yelled over the comms.
Simultaneously, the five parks erupted. The corrupted cherry trees shattered into glowing embers, breaking Spector’s hold on the Syndiclon network. The suffocating dark mist clinging to the forest began to dissipate, carried away by the violent, cleansing winds Icky and the Storm Riders had kicked into motion.
High above on a cliffside, the silhouette of a massive dragon roared into the starry night, its mind freed from the synthetic rage. Down in the valleys, the Pipo Monkeys scattered, their mind-control helmets short-circuiting and blinking out.
Spector's voice returned over the radio one last time, weak and fading through heavy static. "This... this isn't over..."
Ash looked up at the clearing night sky, the stars finally shining brightly through the canopy once more. "Maybe not," Ash muttered, fitting his cap forward. "But whenever you change the rules, we'll just break 'em."
