Gilgamesh: Alchemist of the Shadow Realm Intro
The sky over Narnia was no longer the vibrant cerulean of old. It was a bruised purple, choked by the obsidian spire that had erupted from the earth where Cair Paravel once stood. Sixty years had passed since the hero Gilgamesh struck down the monster and leveled the Tower of Druagga, but the earth had a long memory—and a cruel one.
The Seven Gems of Narnia, once the heart of a unified kingdom, were scattered. Without them, the harmony between the tribes had withered, replaced by the suffocating influence of the revived Tower.
An Unlikely Alliance
Gathered in the dim light of a hidden cave in the Shuddering Woods, four figures stood around a map of the changed world.
Prince Caspian: Now a seasoned leader in his twilight years, his crown was heavy with the weight of a dying kingdom.
Leif of Deltora: A traveler from a land that knew the struggle of lost gems all too well. His Belt of Deltora thrummed with a sympathetic resonance to the Narnian magic.
Ranmaru Shino: A master of the blade from a distant realm, his eyes sharp and focused, sensing the unnatural "ki" bleeding from the Tower's walls.
Jil: A battle-hardened survivor of the first climb, his broad shoulders and scarred face bore the marks of many clashes within the Tower’s shifting traps. His knowledge was the only reason they hadn't been killed at the border.
The Return of Druagga
"The shadow is reaching the Great River," Caspian said, his voice a gravelly rasp. "Once it touches the sea, the tribes will lose their memories of the peace entirely. They will become nothing more than thralls to the Tower's will."
"I’ve seen this before," Leif added, touching the empty settings on a local relic. "A land divided is a land conquered. We don't just need to climb that Tower; we need to find the Diamond of the Centaurs and the Ruby of the Dwarves before we even step inside. Without at least two of the gems, the Tower's gates won't even acknowledge us as sentient."
Jil adjusted the heavy gauntlet on his left arm, checking the alignment of the shield attached to it. "Gilgamesh thought he ended it. But the Tower is like a weed—if you don't pull out the root, it just waits for the sun to go down to grow back. And this time, it’s brought friends. The Blue Knights are patrolling the lower floors again."
The First Step
Ranmaru didn't look up from sharpening his katana. "Discussion provides no cover. If the Tower stands, we climb. If the gems are lost, we hunt. My blade does not care if the enemy is a monster or a god."
The plan was desperate. They would split into pairs to recover the nearest gems before converging at the base of the spire. Caspian and Jil would head for the ruins of the Western Woods, while Leif and Ranmaru would strike at the heart of the occupied Dwarven mines.
"The golden age is a ghost," Caspian whispered, looking toward the dark silhouette on the horizon. "But even ghosts can be summoned back to the light."
The fire in the center of the cave flickered. Outside, the wind howled with a sound that wasn't entirely natural—the scream of a Tower that had been hungry for sixty years, and was finally ready to feast on the hope of Narnia once more.
The climb was about to begin.
