Shadow Lord: Descent of the Iron Regalia
The air in Del was thick with a cloying, purple mist that tasted of copper and old nightmares. It was a physical reminder that the golden age of Deltora—the days when the seven tribes flourished under the light of the seven gems—had been swallowed by a growing darkness.
The harmony of the Adon, Manus, and the other tribes was now a fractured memory. The shadow of the Shadow Lord had always loomed, but a new, more elegant malice had begun to weave itself into the fabric of their reality.
The Summons
Leif, the King of Deltora, stood upon the battlements of the palace, his hand resting instinctively on the Belt of Deltora. Beside him stood an unlikely council: Sia, her presence as sharp and cold as the blood she commanded; the demon lord Sesshomaru, whose silver hair caught the dim light of a dying sun; and Icky, the wildcard of Team Kagerasmaru, pacing with a restless, nervous energy.
Then, the wind died. The silence that followed was unnatural.
"Life had not always been this way... but the cycle of peace is a fragile thing, little King."
The voice didn't come from the air, but from within their own minds—ethereal, feminine, and terrifyingly calm. It was Kaguya, the Princess of the Night.
"The Shadow Lands have many masters, but only one Moon. Come to my Dream Castle... that is, if you so desire."
The Gateway to the Dream
A rift tore open in the courtyard below, shimmering with the iridescent glow of stolen Atherium. Unlike the raw, jagged power of the Belt’s gems, this power felt fluid, pulling at their very consciousness.
Leif tightened his grip on his sword. "It’s a trap. We know the Shadow Lands thrive on deception."
Sesshomaru took a step toward the rift, his expression one of icy indifference. "Trap or not, she mocks us. A lord does not ignore a challenge from the shadows."
Sia wiped a droplet of crimson from her lip, her eyes glowing. "The blood in this place... it feels stagnant. I want to see if this 'Dream' has a pulse."
Icky gave a jagged grin, though his hands trembled slightly. "A Dream Castle? Sounds better than this nightmare. Let’s see if Kagerasmaru’s finest can break a princess."
The Descent
As they stepped through the threshold, the world of Deltora dissolved. The stone walls of the palace melted into pillars of translucent pearl. The sky above was no longer the grey of the Shadow Lord's influence, but a deep, eternal violet, dominated by a moon that looked large enough to crush the earth.
The Dream Castle loomed before them, constructed of memories and Atherium mist. It was a place where the history of the seven tribes was etched into the walls, but twisted—peaceful scenes of the past were now weeping shadows.
At the top of the grand staircase, Kaguya waited. She sat upon a throne of bamboo and moonlight, her gaze holding the weight of a thousand years.
"The King, the Blood-Sovereign, the Dog-General, and the Shadow-Walker," she murmured, her voice echoing through the hollow halls. "You seek to restore prosperity to Deltora? To do so, you must first survive the reality I have crafted from your own desires."
The doors behind them vanished. The trial of the Dream Castle had begun
