The Song of the Mechanical Maiden and the Lone Wolf Priest: Symphonia

The desert sun was a physical weight, pressing down on the dusty main street of a nameless frontier town. Outside the "Hole-in-the-Wall" saloon, a strange collection of travelers had converged, drawn by the same rumor of a hidden "Outlaw's Graveyard."
Mister leaned against a hitching post, adjusting his signature hat. He checked his watch with the calm precision of a man who’d escaped more high-security prisons than most people had visited. Next to him, Haru Glory sat on a crate, the massive Ten Commandments sword wrapped in cloth at his side. He looked a bit out of place—too earnest for this gritty corner of the galaxy—but his eyes held a steel that Mister respected.
"He’s late," Mister grumbled, glancing at the shimmering horizon.
"Give him a break," Haru said, petting Plue, who was currently shivering for no apparent reason. "The guy mentioned something about a 'sand-steamer delay'."
Right on cue, a cloud of dust erupted in the distance. A tall, lanky figure in a tattered red duster came sprinting toward them, arms flailing. Behind him, a much broader man lugged a massive, cloth-wrapped cross on his shoulder, cursing with every step.
"I am so sorry! Truly, deeply, heart-wrenchingly sorry!" Vash the Stampede skidded to a halt, nearly face-planting in the dirt. He popped up with a peace sign and a toothy grin. "There was this cat, see? And it was stuck, and then there was a lady with too many suitcases..."
"Shut up, blondie," Wolfwood growled, thumping the Punisher cross onto the ground with a heavy thud. He lit a cigarette, squinting through the smoke. "We’re burning daylight and I’m out of patience. Is this the crew? A kid with a giant rock and a guy who looks like he’s lost his getaway car?"
Mister straightened his collar. "We’re the crew. But we’re missing the cargo."
The Arrival
The swinging doors of the saloon creaked open. Out stepped a girl who looked like she’d been assembled in a Victorian watchmaker’s fever dream. The Clockwork Girl moved with a rhythmic, metallic clicking—a "Virgin Punk" masterpiece of brass gears and porcelain skin. She held a rusted map in her hand, her glass eyes whirring as they focused on the group.
"Calibration complete," she announced, her voice like a silver bell. "The treasure is three miles East, buried under the 'Eye of the Storm'. You are the requested escort?"
"That's us, sweetheart," Wolfwood said, exhaling a cloud of smoke. "Though I usually prefer my clients to have a pulse."
"Love and Peace don't need a pulse!" Vash chirped, though he was already checking the cylinders of his silver long-barrel. He sensed it before the others—the vibration in the sand.
The Ambush
The ground erupted. Twelve armored bounty hunters, tipped off by the local syndicate, swarmed the street.
Mister didn't blink. He drew his pistols with fluid grace, his movements a practiced dance of tactical efficiency. Bang. Bang. Two hunters hit the dirt before they could level their rifles.
Haru swung the Ten Commandments, the blade shifting into its "Explosion" form. A single strike cleared the left flank in a burst of light and sound. "Stay behind me!" he shouted to the girl.
Wolfwood didn't bother with subtlety. He stripped the cloth from the Punisher, the heavy machine gun roaring to life, chewing through the cover the outlaws were using.
Vash was a blur of red. He wasn't shooting to kill—he was shooting guns out of hands, tripping up charging enemies, and moving with an impossible, liquid agility that defied physics.
In the center of the chaos, the Clockwork Girl stood perfectly still. As a hunter lunged at her with a vibro-blade, her forearm hissed open. A series of brass gears spun at high velocity, and a hidden pneumatic spike driven by steam pressure punched through the attacker’s chest plate.
"Defense protocols active," she said tonelessly.
The Aftermath
As the dust settled and the remaining bounty hunters scrambled for the hills, the five of them stood in the middle of the ruined street.
Mister tipped his hat to the girl. "Not bad, kid. You've got more kick than a Twelve-Step escape plan."
"We make a pretty good team!" Vash beamed, putting an arm around a very annoyed Wolfwood. "Think of the donuts we could share!"
Haru laughed, sheathing his sword. "I don't know about donuts, but we have a map to follow. Ready to see what's at the end of the road?"
The Clockwork Girl nodded, her internal gears ticking a steady beat. "The path is clear. Proceeding to destination."
The outlaw, the hero, the gunman, the priest, and the machine turned toward the rising heat of the deep desert, five legends walking into a single story.
