SILENCE OF THE BLOOD-OAK: Requiem for the Forbidden Grove
The air in the Naraku’s castle didn’t just smell of decay; it felt heavy, like a physical weight pressing down on the lungs.
Yusuke Urameshi adjusted the collar of his green uniform, his fingers crackling with faint blue sparks of Spirit Aura. Beside him, Leif of Deltora gripped the hilt of the Belt of Deltora. The gems—topaz, ruby, opal—glowed with a rhythmic pulse, sensing the profound unnaturalness of the fortress.
"You guys sure this 'Naraku' guy is worth the hike?" Yusuke asked, cracking his neck. "I’ve seen some ugly demons, but this place is a real dump."
"He is a plague," Leif replied, his voice steady despite the swirling miasma. "He sows discord for sport. If he gains the fragments he seeks, not even the magic of Deltora will be enough to shield the lands."
The Encounter
The heavy doors at the end of the hall burst inward. A silver blur collided with a red one, sending a shockwave through the stone floor.
Inuyasha skidded back, his Tetsusaiga bared and pulsing with energy. "Stay out of this, Sesshomaru! He’s mine to kill!"
Sesshomaru stood perfectly still, his long white hair barely swaying in the wind of the explosion. His expression was one of cold, aristocratic boredom. "Inuyasha, your incompetence has allowed this half-demon to linger long enough. I do not take orders from a mongrel."
"Who are you calling a—"
"Quiet, both of you," a silken voice drifted from the shadows above.
Naraku sat perched on a throne of bone and purple vapor. His baboon skin cloak was gone, revealing a body of fused demon carapaces. He looked down at the mismatched group with a thin, cruel smile. "The Spirit Detective, the King of a fading realm, and the squabbling brothers. How kind of you to gather for your end."
The Battle
Naraku didn't wait. He unleashed a swarm of Saimyosho insects and thick, poisonous miasma.
Leif stepped forward, the Diamond on his belt flashing. A barrier of pure white light erupted, pushing back the purple fog. "Now!" he shouted.
Inuyasha leaped into the air. "Wind Scar!" The golden energy tore through the floor, heading straight for Naraku’s heart.
Sesshomaru moved faster than the eye could follow. With a flick of the Bakusaiga, he sent a corrosive wave of green energy toward Naraku’s flank, ensuring the demon couldn't regenerate.
Naraku laughed, his body splitting into a dozen segments to avoid the brunt of the attacks. "Predictable."
"Predict this!"
Yusuke Urameshi was suddenly inches from Naraku's face. He had used the chaos as a distraction, his Spirit Wave keeping the miasma from burning his skin. He leveled his index finger right between Naraku’s eyes.
"Spirit Gun!"
The blast was massive. It didn't just hit Naraku; it vaporized the upper half of the throne room.
The Aftermath
As the smoke cleared, Naraku’s shattered remains tried to pull back together, but the lingering energy of the Bakusaiga was eating away at the cells.
"The Belt..." Leif whispered. He held the Amethyst aloft. The purple stone resonated with the dark energy of Naraku’s soul, stabilizing the chaotic aura long enough for Inuyasha to deliver the final blow.
"Adamant Barrage!" Inuyasha swung, showering the regenerating demon in shards of diamond energy, shattering Naraku’s core into dust.
Sesshomaru sheathed his blade, turning his back before the dust even settled. "A messy conclusion. Don't let me see your face again, Inuyasha." He vanished into a streak of light.
Yusuke blew the smoke off his finger and looked at Leif. "Not bad, King. You got some weird jewelry, but it gets the job done."
Leif smiled tiredly, looking at the belt that had saved them once more. "It is the unity of the gems that gives them power, Yusuke. Much like us."
Inuyasha huffed, sheathing his sword. "Whatever. I could've handled him myself."
"Yeah, sure you could, Fluffy," Yusuke grinned, dodging a swipe from Inuyasha’s claws. "Let's get out of here. I'm starving."
